Favorite car I have ever had

The 2001 Passat is a beautiful car. The exterior finish is like nothing I have ever seen before. The finish is just as beautiful as the day it was new. It has class but also is a bit on the sporty side. The turbo gives it all the kick you need in an emergency situation. It is a solid car that handles wonderfully and has a smooth ride. I have kept this car longer than any other I have ever owned just because it is truly a beautiful car. It just never seems to age!

One word: Amazing.

The second I sat down in my '01 GLX 4-motion Passat, I truly felt at home. Not only did the comfort of the interior draw me in, but the exterior is flat out beautiful. A few of my friends have already sat in the back and have never stopped complimenting the space and luxury of the car. My Passat has even been compared to looking like a BMW. Overall, I am completely happy with my car and there's no doubt I'll be sticking to german engineering for years to come.

This car saved my wife and I in head on collision

what a great car. it saved my wife and I in a head on collision with a suburban. airbags work great! inside comfortable. 4motion handles great in the snow. it's an audi a4 at a more reasonable price.

Most reliable car I've owned and I've owned 10!

She's still in top shape after 7 years and almost 109,000 miles! This car has never left me broken down by the side of the road. The controls are intuitive, no need to read a thick manual to figure out the Tiptronic or anything else. (I also own a BMW 325i and many of the features are awkwardly placed and hard to figure out.) The paint really lasts! None of that awful sun fading that you see on so many cars these days. It's just been a great ride!

Check Engine Light Works

Fun car to drive. Great handling. But it constantly needs repairs. The check engine light comes on every other month. Spent $3K in two months and the light still comes on. Whatever the issue, you are told it is not VW's fault. Mechanically the worst car I have owned.

German engineering at it's finest

The Passat handles extremely well and comes equipped with enough juice to have some fun. As is typical with most Euro cars the interior is Spartan but you have what you need. For the size of the car there is a surprising amount of back seat leg room and trunk space. All in all a fun car to own.

Too many problems to entertain

I thought this car was great till everything started breaking down. We've owned it for about 3 years now and have put in about $2500.00. Not just things like replacing a timing belt which one should expect for a car with a lot of miles, but the computer goes nuts from time to time with "Emissions Test", or "Stop Now", or other warning. There have been too many problems with this car to list here, and each one is incredibly expensive to repair. One good thing: unlike other cars which may just stop on the road, this car gives you ample warning, and the response really decreases giving you ever indication that the car is having trouble. For example, your brakes won't work well in reverse (good luck parallel parking), and you won't accelerate easily during one these spells. THis sounds bad, but note that other cars may just quit on you without warning. I really love this car, but the trouble is not worth it in the long run, and you're better off going with either another over-engineered German, or a Honda/Acura/Lexus family for peace of mind. As a woman with children, peace of mind is critically important to me when it comes to vehicles.

One of the most 'fun to drive' vehicles I've owned

Purchased new, this car has more neat features than you'll find on most 2007 cars like using the key in the driver?s side exterior door lock to open or close all the windows, an air conditioning vent in the glove box and the multi-function trip computer with distance per drive, mpg, and time on road. Bought for safety and drivability, my VW was quite reliable with only two trips to the repair shop for out of the ordinary issues in seven years. The car is extremely smooth, handles great and the V6 got 27 mpg on the highway. It?s one of the best looking wagons on the road.
