good dependable car

Two of my daughters, sequentially, have used this car to get back and forth from college on week ends, and travel while there. It has been a very reliable car, gets great gas mileage, and runs as strong today as when we purchased it back in 2003 (we purchased from the original owner).

Great car for the money

This is a the second Sunfire we've owned. This one being a convertible with the larger more powerful 2.4 liter engine which is a great performer. We like the body style, but would like a bigger opening to the trunk. The convertible top suprisingly doesn't limit visiblilty very much. The rear seats fold down which comes in very handy when we've needed to transport some large items from the store to home. Overall this is a relatively good handling and very economical car. It gets good gas mileage, usually between 25 - 30 MPG.

Just... a car.

Nothing outstanding about it. I've had my sunfire for a year now. I've put 40,000 miles on it in a year, taking it on several long (760mile one way) trips and back home, does fair on the highway with gas mileage. Mine has an issue with rear brake drums and problems with the engine block. Now it's sitting at 172,500 miles and it's getting to be way more of a hassle than its worth. Good while new, but anything over 100,000 put your money elsewhere.

great first car

0-60 is less then half second slower then Tiburon GT! (with addition of intake, exhaust and no power options) and gets between 35-40MPG. could use a four speed transmition instead of three speed with double gear. great car! vary relible if well matained.

GM.... That's all I need to say.

I've had the car for 2 years. I got it at 96,000 miles, and it's now at 139,000 Miles. (Surprised it lasted this long). I've put about $1,200 into it, which isn't bad. It runs "OK" but you really have to know how to take care of cars for them to last. (American that is.) I take it on long trips a lot....150-200 Miles. It does fine at 139,000 miles. It overheats a lot, and it's something that can't be fixed, but it runs well still. A "decent" car for a first one.

typical GM

Great looking car, but all kinds of little quirks. Plasma display constantly fades out with moisture. Engine block started leaking at 65000 miles. Very small interior. Uncomfortable and noisy ride on highway. Several recalls. Fun to drive with good pickup for a small 4 cylinder.
