I love this truck looking for another one to buy I just changed for the first 190,000 miles my first shocks all around . Every 5 yrs I spend 3,000.00 dollars that includes 4 tires ,ceramic breaks and rotors all around . 1 battery and the usual oil change every 10,000 miles my truck is 16 yrs old it has never broken down on me on the side of the road until last week I was in nys and my radiator blew I thought the it was a hose but it was the radiator. I had it towed home back to nj . At that point, i decided to go all out and change everything that I thought needed to be done. i spare no cost I changed all this valve covers , valve cover gaskets ,radiator both hoses ,serpentine belt, the intake manifold set a new battery, new radiator cap,oil change ,left front break line , the J pipe , one muffler, the tail pipe ,all new clamps and the tow truck towing cost all total cost me $3,524.41 all I needed was a radiator and the j pipe but sence I had it in the repair shop I wanted all this other work done. I just got new shocks on the car this is funny the guy asked me when was the last time you changed your shocks I said I never did why he said look at them they were rusted away the whole rear shocks we rotted away I couldn't believe it how bad they were it took him 4 hrs to get all for shocks off I never saw shocks that had only a quarter metal left on it and the best is I never felt anything wrong with the shocks I just wanted to change them . I honestly love this truck to bad they don't make this truck anymore . People complain about the gas milage funny I did also but my mechanic.told me yes it sucks on gas but after a year the gas milage will get better he was right . I have a.led foot I fly in this truck every two weeks I fill my truck today prices 68.00 no big deal I am very picky with my cars I will find my next xterra that is used and I will buy it again .I got this one Brand new . I know all the things that need to be replaced before I start driving the next one . Best truck I ever had if you take car of it trust me it will.last you for ever my mechanic drove it and couldn't believe the power this truck has he told me you just might get 500,000 miles on this if you keep it up what ever your doing . Everything else on this truck is all original everything I told you I replaced is it . The only thing that I don't like about this truck is the drives bottom seat is ripping ,I will go to the dealer to have a new bottom seat replaced

Fantastic Cool Vehicle for SUV

I purchased this Nissan Xterra August 2007. I have driven this car up mountains and for long hauls. Great vehicle. In fact my son has been driving it now for the past 4 years and it made it through his med school and residency, now has over 300 miles and still truckin. I wish they still made this vehicle as I would love to buy another one brand new. I love the room it has and you sit up high so you feel secure. One time a old man ran into me and the back bumper didn't even budge & the olf man's small Ford truck's front end was smashed in. Very safe vehicle to be in. I would advise they made some more.

still kickin

I got mine used in 2012 with about 45k on it. Last year I crossed 100k miles. A few months after I got it, a cab rear-ended me in downtown Nashville; I needed a new bumper, but he needed a new cab. More recently, I was driving down a highway in IL when some deer ran across the road. I had nowhere to go, so I slowed down, but I couldn't avoid the last one. The front end took some damage; I drove it for a week before I could get it to the shop. $3500 dollars later, it's back to a more normal appearance (insurance covered most of it). So, from a safety standpoint, I feel pretty good about this vehicle. I have had a couple of minor issues -- the tire sensor went out a long time ago. The fuel gauge works intermittently, so I have to watch the trip meter. And there is some problem with a battery cable -- somewhere; if the battery holder is loose, the battery doesn't charge. But I pushed the battery back, tightened the clamp, and I haven't had any more problems -- but I am still wondering what happened. It's the only reason I consider buying another car (I don't like getting stranded for any reason).

Worst car ever owned

Have had the same items replace several times over the past 8 years. Poor gas mileage, not reliable. Expensive repairs lead to dissatisfaction. The past 8 years spent about 15K in repairs...could have bought new car. Now having same issue for the third time.

LOVE this car

I absolutely loved this car. It was a great first car and kept me feeling safe up in the air. It was the perfect car for a young driver and served many purposes.

Nissan Xterra '07

I used to own this vehicle. It was my first. It went for over 175k miles AND still continues to go (not owned by me but driven by a friend). It rarely had issues (I wasn't the kindest to it -i was young). It's mpg is not that great but it can haul just about anything and has plenty of space. If you need a reliable car xterras are that. Unfortunately they don't make them anymore

235,000 miles

This has been the best vehicle I ever bought. I bought mine used in 2009 with 60K miles. I used it as a my daily vehicle for 8 years, now my high school son uses it as his. Its still running well, although it does show signs of wear and tear. Had to replace the transmission at 160K back in 2013. Put a refurbed one in for $3500. 6 years and 75K miles later, its still working. I am going to hang onto it for as long as I can and as long as I dont have any major repairs, hoping to hit 300K. Fingers crossed! I have a wrangler now, but I miss the Xterra. Wish Nissan still made them.

Bought used

On the whole I like it. I only have two gripes but they’re well within reason when buying a 12 year old used car. 1: differential whine at highway speeds, and 2: for no foreseeable reason the rear hatch won’t open anymore. Opened at the dealer, and when we got home but then m wife slammed it shut and now nothin. Those two small things aside I couldn’t be happier.
