Simply The Best Vehicle I Have Ever Owned!
This is my 2nd Montero. I bought the 1st one new. I am considering purchasing a 3rd one. I hate that they are not still making them here. I know everything about this SUV. With regular maintenance, there is hardly anything bad to say about it. I simply love it. I currently have 220,000 miles on mine.

I love this SUV!
This my third Mitsubishi Montero, first 2006. I have homes in Dallas and Colorado. It handles very well on the Hwy. and is indomitable in the mountains where 4 wheel low lock is a must sometimes. It is good looking, especially with the right size wheels and tires that balance the look. It never breaks, the reliability is ridiculously . I have a half million miles on Mitsubishi Montero's without a major repair. What other SUV can do that? Others may give you a more luxurious ride you will enjoy while being stuck in the snow but this 2006 montero is good looking, comfortable, maneuverable and supremely reliable.

Most Underrated SUV Ever
This is my 3rd Montero and if they were still importing them, I would buy a newer one. These are made in Japan with 99% Japan content and made to last. Roomy, tall greenhouse for great visibility, 7 passenger comfort, independent suspension and the best 4WD system in this type of vehicle. Find a rust-free and well-maintained example and you can drive it 300,000 miles.

Not so subtle perfection. Great car.
Exceeded expectations of an SUV. Reliable transportation. Minimum repairs. Traveled extensively, rain, snow, rough roads, and Montero took on the challenge. Only regret, vehicle no longer sold new in USA.

My Colorado tank!
I owned a 1991 Montero LS and have been sick ever since I traded it in for a smaller, more economical daily commuter where capabilities needed to deal with snow and getting to work dependably. My Montero had everything we needed for several days in the woods needed to decompress. The driver's front seat was a "trucker seat" that softened the ride in off-road conditions. That is sorely missed on competitive models. The seat was the best thing for my back-if I had any kinks they were long gone by the time I got home from work or gym. I was in one "front-ender" once and even the investigating officer stated the CSPD needed "some trucks like mine!" It is a tank built to never die! The biggest mistake Mitsubishi made was to scale down the Montero to the Sport and hope the public would not notice. We noticed!!! The full-sized Montero LS is a tank built for life as an Urban Gorilla.

2006 Ltd.
My 2006 only has 53,500 miles, and is better than the current Fore Runner in every category, especially comfort, style and road noise. My MPG is better than similar SUV's I have had in the past (Fore runner and Land Cruiser). I have had folks ask me if I am ready to sell it, and as I now search for a larger SUV, I have great doubts about giving it up, as I know that the next one will drink more gas, however, I need larger capacity with towing ability, which you do not get from any 3.8 6 cylinder. This SUV is hard to beat.

Substitute Lexus LX 470
I really wanted an LX-470. I had traveled long-distance with a hunting buddy and his was extremely nice, no question. The problem w/any Lexus is the premium you must pay to get even a decent one. Popularity has a definite cost. Maintenence and fuel costs aren't insignificant either (w/$4plus gas). My Montero Limited is everything that LX-470 was (solid, mega-dependable and competent 4X4, 7-passenger, lots of luxury (heated leather seats, DVD player, etc) plus it has a V-6 which is noticeably easier on gas (17-18MPG vrs 12-14MPG). The smaller engine means that it's no drag-racer (which may be partly why it isn't imported here anymore, '06 was the last year) but that isn't what I needed. The price was also a big plus. I bought what was a very expensive car new, for mere pennies on the dollar (nobody seems to know what these cars are!). And, at 21K miles it's still under the factory warrenty for a few more months. Lifespan on it should go 150K plus easily. What a value!!!

Montero 2006
This is the third Montero I have bought, the first being a used 1994 SR. These vehicles are ideal for the kind of off-road driving I regularly do, and by far outperform any of it's competitors. The '06 is luxurious, quiet with adequate power and economy. The vehicle is somewhat susceptible to crosswinds, but very few high profile SUV's are immune to this.
