2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class consumer reviews

The GL450 seats 7 (adults, not just kids) and feels like a Mercedes. (Maybe not as much fun as my CLS 500, but almost.) Most important, it is solid and safe.

I have owned a GL 450 for 2 1/2 years (currently just under 40K mi.) and have very mixed feelings about it. I've driven nearly every large SUV available, so I now have a pretty good basis for comparison. On the plus side, the GL has a great comfortable ride, plenty of passing power, a great sound system and road noise is minimal. Concerning pretty much everything else, my opinion has tilted toward the negative. Reliability has been the number one problem, and that could partly be the result of it being the first model year. I've had numerous front-end problems, mostly steering and suspension - none life-threatening or catastrophic, and all covered under the warranty, but annoying nonetheless. Also, numerous problems with the restraint system, brakes, audio system, and door locks. Needless to say, I am a familiar face at the dealership! Other negatives: fuel consumption is poor, but that is the nature of the beast. 2nd row legroom is poor given the size of the vehicle. Interior storage compartments are lacking. Seats are not the most comfortable on long drives. It is easy to accidentally hit the paddle shifters on the steering wheel, which results in knocking the car into 1st gear (D1) - not a good thing! Anyway, the only basis I could recommend the GL 450 is for those for whom the status of owning a Mercedes is important - otherwise, I think there are many more wise choices out there. You might ask, why do I still drive it? I am locked into a 3-year prepaid lease! Live and learn..

Best 3rd Row Seats Ever Every feature possible - Distronic, Heated Steering Wheel and keyless go.....Once used, sets the bench mark for required features. Great, car when it works. Can not drive anywhere without a extra battery to jump start. Stranded over 6 times, 4 visits to dealer before resolved. Mercedes, in formal reply considers this acceptable. Resale value: 2+ years 25,000 mileage 45% of original price paid offered by Mercedes as a Trade-In Base Price $45+, Loaded $75k+ Consider Lexus LX570. Base $75K, Load $80K. Since Trade-in largely focuses on Base Price, resale on Mercedes is always poor, base does not include: Leather seats Xenon Lights Heated Seats and most features commonly expected from a luxury car.

Best car I ever owned. Wonderful for family and their friends. Gets many admiring glances and comments.

BOUGHT THIS 2007 GL 450 REPLACE MY 2001 CHEY SUBRUBAN.VERY SMALL INTERIOR ,SMALL LEG ROOM.ITS GOOD LOTS OF FUTURES. GOOD QUALITY INTERIOR LEATHER . BUT WHAT I NEED IS CONFORT WHEN I'AM GOING FOR LONG TRIPS . IT'S GOOD TO SHOW THE FUTURES TO BUDDIES AND COWORKER .AND BE A FAMILY STAR IN YOUR NEIGHBOR HOOD. BUT IF YOU HAVE 3 KIDS AND A AUPAIR WILL BRING THEN TO PIONT A TO POINT B AND GOING LONG TRIPS NOT RECOMENDED. I CAN'T WAIT THE LEAST WILL BE DUE. ANY WAY MY AUPAIR DRIVING IT.

Too good to be true?Yes!I love this car because:it's the most comfortable car i've owned,great handling, looks great inside and out,i am amazed by these features and it is defently worth the money!When i drive, on this SUV, i'm getting 25 mpg!Too good to be true?No! Way too good to be true!!

This SUV isn't really a large SUV, it's kind of short. And the performance isn't the best in class. 335 hp isn't enough. And 7.5 tons of towing capacity? NOT ENOUGH! I owuld rather get an 08' Hummer H2. I wouldn't buy this vehicle.

I love this car, traded my Acura MDX for it and enjoy driving it. Drives more like a car than SUV. Great for hauling kids as long as they are out of car seats. Gets difficult for kids in car seats, can't beat the minivan for small kids.
