Looks Great and Handles Like a Sports Car

No complaints. I purchased this C230 from the local Mercedes dealer. It was one of their service loaners with 6,000 miles and it looked like new (was on the showroom floor). The only complaint I have is with the brakes/tires. Front brake pads only lasted 20,000 miles and the tires were about the same. The Continental tires flat spot overnight and it takes a couple of miles to make them round again. The 7 speed auto transmission is a little rough when shifting, but not a big deal.

Very Fun Driver's Car

The C230 is much more than I expected. I bought a pre-owned C230 Sport and am very pleased with it. From it's sporty exterior styling to the superb comfort, the car does not disappoint. I needed a bigger car but didn't want a bigger price. This was a perfect find.

A Mercedes, Not as Unreliable as Some May Say

Ratings are given with consideration of the vehicle's age, in this case, the vehicle is fairly modern, so not much handicap will be given. Model: C280 Luxury 2WD An excellent executive sedan, with the expected executive sedan performance. The car is decidedly smooth. Neither too soft nor too hard. It irons out bumps in a surefooted manner, without aftershocks, and doesn't compress your spine. A very good touring car feel. Lively, more than enough for normal daily driving. Braking is sure and fade free at normal speeds. Brake pedal action is a bit grabby and lacks a bit of gradient. The C280 does 0-60 in 7 seconds, enough to feel a jolt here and there. Surefooted and balanced, the car promotes understeer, combined with ESP means a very safe RWD car. The car provides plenty of grip, and is easy to recover when grip runs out. But for daily driving, those boundaries will never be reached. Soft and curvy, generally good to look at. Compared to the new one, the car has a decidedly dated (clearly not from the new era) feel, yet does not look that way. Much better rear end than the new one. Roomy for the front passengers, but often at the expense of rear passengers. This is only a problem for those over 6'2, however, any 5 people under that height will be able to fit in the car comfortably. All around a typical executive sedan look, but a bit gray and bland. Paint coat thickness is a problem, as it is with many modern cars. Thinner than a sheet of paper, avoid getting it scratched, and a white primer = avoid dark colors. The car has a wide range of options, but the most useful feature is a digital speedometer, which has led me to no longer use the dial. Otherwise, everything to be expected is there. Despite a dropping reputation for Mercedes cars, the car has had no problems worth talking about in 20,000 miles. However, interior fitting has some trouble, minor squeaks from the driver's seat and the optional rear sunshade. Really annoying with the windows up and radio off. In hindsight, this is not a car I would buy had I had to pay the full cost, as there are better offers from other automakers. Nevertheless, the badge presence is a factor, and the car is very good, just not the best.

wow!

Bought this car for fun and gee wiz it really goes. Lots of fun in the last snow storm and the ones before that. It handles the rough weather like a hot knife through butter. On dry ground this baby flies. The big brakes stop it in its tracks. Turns on a dime. The looks are classic MB just like its big brothers. I find this car an excellent value.
