Reliable fun

Owned one since 2016 its a 95 model. Weekly drive its never needed a part beyond a clutch plate when I first bought it, Always starts and performs well with minimal service - and its great fun!

Reliably Fun

Miatas deserve all the love they've received over the years. They drive like the best tradition of British sports cars, but with Japanese durability and reliability. As one motoring magazine review put it, it's like driving a Lotus Elite, but the headlights and windshield wipers work. When you do need to replace a part, they're generally easy to find, and won't break the bank. There is a whole aftermarket devoted to replacement and performance parts, in addition to your local Mazda dealership.

1995 Miata M Edition with 150K miles

Believe the hype! With my background in vintage racing and trackdays, i have some valid opinions about the Miata. First, it's so much fun. It's definitive not a great daily driver. Especially not if you have a family. But as a weeknd fun car, it's hard to beat. Especially for the price. Which leads me to my second point. Value. You can buy a 1st or 2nd generation Miata with 150K gentle miles for a about 3k. Expect to spend close to 6k for a low mileage and unmolested specimen. I paid 4500 for my clean M Edition with 150k miles. Handling. The car handles well. It's not a modern car. So don't expect modern feel. But, that does not mean it doesn't handle well. On a tight twistie road, a well driven Miata is hard to beat. And hard to keep up with. Parts availability. Another great thing about this car is that parts are available from both Mazda and the aftermarket. Have no worries about keeping it running. Although, with this car being so reliable, i wouldn't worry much about the car failing on you. But of there are repairs to be made, it's certainly one of the most simply modern cars to work on. Especially if you are a mechanic.

Most reliable car I've owned.

The car is excellent in every aspect. Even being an almost 30 years old car, performs a lot better than more expensive car I've owned.

A perfect compliment to our wagon

We have owned this car since 1998, buying it with 42k miles. It now has about 85k, has been driven year round and is starting to show its age. We have done some body work on it. It has been fairly reliable (it has something wrong with starting where I need to turn the key numerous times before the starter engages - three mechanics have not figured it out so I live with it). The annual maintenance costs have been very low and the gas mileage OK (only 33 mpg on the highway - it should do much better given the size of the engine). But, you do not buy a car like this for those reasons - it is pure fun to drive - the stick shift is beautiful with a nice short throw, the pedals nicely placed so you can easily play all three for starts on hills, the top drops in a couple of seconds without getting out of the car, and sun shines in (much to my dermatologist's disgust). Little kids all love it, but unfortunately, with a passenger side airbag that does not turn off, they really should not be riding in the car. Our other car is a wagon. We are a family of three. With just two of us going somewhere, the Miata is the perfect ride (as long as it is not snowing hard . . . ).

Very fun car

I love my Miata so much it is one of my favorite cars simply because the styling but getting behind the wheel and driving is just so much more going into tight turns with this car is no problem and tons of fun it's not hard to put mods on it and it's worth every penny

Started with a jump after 6 years

I have loved this car as long as I have owned it. It has never let me down. I would be driving it still if there were room for a car seat.

Love cars.com

Love it! It's a beautiful car. The only reason I'm selling it is that I have found an awesome deal on a 2007 Miata. Of course it was on cars.com.

Tons of fun

Great car, drove well. The five speed manual was a lot of fun and the speed and size of the car made it fun to zip around in. The convertible top was incredible in the summer and unfortunately I'm selling mine cause I need something a little more practical.
