Solid, practical and sports

We recently bought a used 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback for our son in college. It's a solid, practical car with a good reliability record, but also sporty and handles well (he says it handles better than our previous 2004 Civic).

Great car with great gas mileage for a good price

Well I can I recently purchased a 2012 Mazda 3 Grand Touring Edition and we love the exterior the interior is very nice heated seats navigation and Blindside censoring which is very nice. I'm not crazy about the radio or the buttons and I'm not sure how it integrates with are Android phones yet but so far it's been a great car

Really Good Value

Really good value for what I paid. I love the bluetooth feature as well as just the feel of the car...it feels and runs like a sports car, but without the hefty price tag! Great for what I need it for: the daily commute and occasional roadtrip.

Really reliable runner!

Mechanically, my Mazda3 is sound! Great! Two things could have been better from the design perspective, the comfort and the performance ability of this car. It's a four cylinder, this makes it solid for my many long distance projects. The different areas where I drive it sometimes requires a little pounding on the pedal to maneuver on the roadways. I do save on gas, though! But, for the long trips, it doesn't really give me the comfort that I would like. I recently decided on giving it to my daughter for her first car. As a new, up and coming driver, it is amazing to her! I am glad she loves it!

Best value hatchback on the market

The three main factors I consider when buying a vehicle are: -Fuel economy -Cargo space -Price The Mazda3 nails all three of those categories and is stylish to boot. Even on road trips with luggage and 4 passengers I was still averaging 32mpg with the Skyactiv engine (typically 34-35mpg for commuting). With the rear seats folded forward, I am able to stow my mountain bike INSIDE the trunk. Steering is responsive, breaking is smooth and it's got just the right amount of zoom zoom.

Excellent, well-rounded, trouble free vehicle

I bought my 2012 mazda 3i GT in Oct. 2012 and have since put 111k on it. I was skeptical about buying at first as I've never owned a Mazda, and Direct Injection/Skyactiv technology was relatively new at the time. My previous cars were Infiniti's, so clearly I wanted a vehicle where handling was a top priority. I will probably look back at this vehicle 50 years from now as being the greatest car I've ever owned, let me explain why. First off, the mpg is incredible. I live in a relatively flat area of South Jersey and typically average about 35mpg out of a tank with 80 highway/20city. There have been instances in the warmer months where I set the cruise at 65mph and baby it for a week, and get 500mpg out of a tank (40.5mpg). The car is jam packed with technology you cannot get in this class, and even some you can't get in Cadillac's or Lexus's. HID headlights that swivel around corners. Blind spot monitoring. 10 speaker BOSE. Heated seats with 5 settings. Rain sensing wipers. What lends to this cars excellence is it's weight. The car weighs only 2800 lbs, and feels very light on it's feet. Listen up motorheads. LESS WEIGHT = LESS STRAIN ON MOTORS/TRANSMISSIONS/SHOCKS/STRUTS/BRAKES/TIRES. This car is a pleasure to drive, with hands down the best steering in the class. Driver feedback is excellent, and it handles 40-50mph corners as good as my previous car, a G35 sedan. This car is very nimble and easy to park. I changed the oil myself every 6,500K with Mobil1 0-20. Through 64 months and 111K, THE ONLY money I have put into this: the front rotors/brakes at 50K. Tires at 50K. Transmission flush at 80K. Rear rotors/brakes at 90k. Tires at 100K. Battery at 105K. The car has never seen the shop, and I have never even had to replace a single light bulb. (UNHEARD OF). I will be keeping this car for as long as it continues to be good to me and my wallet and cannot speak any more highly of it. If you haven't driven a Skyactiv Mazda, drive one. The lightweight feel and responsive steering will hook you. Pros: Reliability. MPG. DI Engine that reaches original fuel economy marks through 100K. Snappy transmission. Optional Technology. Unbelievably low cost of ownership. Cons: High insurance because typical driver is sub 25. Low residual. Lack of dual exhaust on Skyactiv models. No "low windshield washer fluid" light on dashboard. The car has headlights that turn around corners, but doesn't let you know when you're almost out of washer fluid? How did that slip through the cracks.

Zoom-Zoom actually means something!

I'm not much of a car person, but I test drove pretty much every hatch available in 2012. With the Mazda 3 (the first time I had ever driven a Mazda), I think I absolutely beamed as I kept saying, "who knew that Zoom-Zoom actually means something?" It's actually fun to drive--and I say this as someone who's never really noticed such a thing in a car before. I still love it 6 years later. The only negative is that there is pretty poor visibility when backing up, but I'm still limber enough to manage.

Fun driving affordable car

It's quick and spunky to drive, I would call it an affordable sports car. Easy to maneuver in town and cruses nicely on the highway with plenty of acceleration.

Mazda 3

I wasn't looking for a Mazda 3 but when I opened the driver's side door I immediately noticed the sleek black dash and black leather interior. Upon driving it the handling and acceleration felt much smoother than other cars I test drove. Mine also has awesome additions such as sunroof, 10 speaker Bose sound system and navigation. Loving this car so far!
