What a pleasure to drive!

Have about 2000 miles on the ES and have been blown away by its comfort and performance. Hate to be away from it. It has exceeded all expectations. Did not really want the nav system, but am very glad my wife did. It is responsive and fun to use. The parking assist and reverse camera are a real plus. Mileage has been as advertised. Really was surprised at how much I like the directional headlights. What a wonderful innovation. The dealer has provided incredibly friendly support. Have loved the Avalon in the past, but anyone who says it is just a less expensive Lexus, has never owned a Lexus.

An Exceptional Ride for the Price

The first thing one notices about the 2007 ES350 is its graceful and powerful look. It has some of the best styling ever offered on a Lexus. No longer the boxy look of earlier models the ES350 has something of an aerodynamic wedge shape that begins low in the front and both widens and rises as you follow it's contours toward the rear of the car. The excitment continues with both the comfortable ride, plush interior and technolgy features that begin when you open the door. The new ES350 requires only a the key fob in your pocket and the doors will lock or unlock if your standing close to the vehicle. The same is true for the trunk. Inside the car, the push button starter is a wonderful convenience in that you no longer have to hunt to find a key slot. Just press the button with your foot on the brake and the engine smoothly comes to life. The technology contniues: parking sensors let you know when you come to close to an object either in front of the car or behind it. The rear sensors only come on when in reverse as does a fish-eye lens camera. Parallel parking has never been easier (unless you get the Lexus that parks itself!). This feature alone will help keep the value of the car high as most of the dings and dents we put on our cars occur in parking lots and obstructions that are difficult to see. There's even more - an excllent navigation system as well as a bluetooth connenction with mobile phones that are so enabled. Voice activated commands for climate control and the phone make using these features while driving a real pleasure - although it must be said that even the dealer had problems programing some of the phone features although we figured it out in the end. Climate controls are easy to use as is the radio, 6 CD changer and audio cassette. It even has inputs and seperate power for an MP3 player. Then there's the drive. The six speed transmission gives the 3.5 liter engine quick acceleration and great gas mileage. The car is front wheel drive which has some advantages like great traction as well as some disadvantages, like a slightly larger turning radius than a rear wheel drive vehicle. It corners well but handles more like a Mercedes sedan as opposed to a sportier Infiniti or BMW sedan of similar size. Overall it's a fun and comfortable car to own and drive.

Incredibly disappointed...

I bought one of the first ES350s manufactured and have paid the price. Although there has not yet been a recall of the transmission, Lexus has now acknowledged a shift delay. In addition to the other reviewer on this site, I also have significant dash noise. I took the Service Manager from the local Lexus dealer with me on a ride and he said, "it sounds like the whole dash is loose". Lexus is now trying to replace my transmission, buy me an extended warranty and put foam insulation on my dash. I've been very disillusioned and wish I had stuck with Acuras or purschased one of the European vehicles I drove as this ownership experience has been a complete bust.

Good car....great value.

Looked and drove several before buying the Lexus ES 350. Drove the new Volvo S80 V8, Infiniti M45, and the Mercedes E series. All nice cars with their own pluses and minuses. Lexus was smoothest, quietest, and best value for the $'s. Didn't get the Nav package or the upgraded stereo and easily kept this car under $40,000 which distanced it significantly from the competition. I had no problem spending more and was prepared to do so but after driving them all I had to ask myself why spend another $10,000 or more? If you like the stiff European feel then you might be disappointed with the way this car drives and handles but if you like quiet and smooth this is the ticket. I owned a European car prior to this one.

Beware of the Dash board Squeak

Unfortunately the ES 350 is plagued by the same dashboard noise as the ES 330. Lexus of USA has not yet acknowledged the existance of this defect yet and therefore even after two trips to the dealer the problem still exists in the form of a specific noise when going over large bumps in the road. LexusUSA has not yet acknowledged that the situation exists pervasively yet so I'd suggest all new owners who notice this situation to contact Lexus and inform them of the situation. I'd advise all new owner to test drive their new car before accepting the delivery and going over some bumps. Other than this problem the can handles like a large boat and delivers all the comfort one would expect from this luxury product

Great AUTO

Coming from a 2002 MBZ CL500 this is a complete different drive. The car for the money has to be the best out there. I can't drive this car enough. It drives itself. The pro list would be to long for this small box, so I will just skip to the couple of cons. 1st poor interior lighting. Not sure why they neglected to put any real lighting inside the car. 2nd It will not allow you to use the touch screen features while in motion, I guess that is probably a good thing. and third and final con, the Clock and AC temp gauges look like they are from a 1985 Toyota Supra. Otherwise this car is the best. I drove all of its competitors, BMW 5 series, MBZ E series, Audi a-6 and a-4. NO COMP OUT THERE!!!! Drive it and you will be shocked. Plus the tech on this car is rated a 10+ in my eyes. I LOVE THIS CAR!

Poor ride and high wind noise

The ES 350 has great sport car type performance but rides like one. You feel every bump in the road. Wind noise higher than my ES 300 but was lowered when I installed the optional side moldings. Transmission noise on a cold start annoying. After three months my tire pressure monitor failed. The dealer is arrogant giving one the feeling he is doing you a favor to sell you the car. This will be my last Lexus.

Our Dream Car!

Gorgeous Royal Ruby Metallic ES 350 purch'd in Newport Beach, CA, Oct. 2006. ES has full Ultra-Luxury Pkg, chrome wheels, window tint, and satellite radio. Looks like a fine piece of jewelry. ES replaced 88 Cad, Eldo, and beats Eldo hands down for fuel economy, acceleration, ride (YES!), and features. Love all the techie gadgets/features; discovering more each day. FWIW: This car can play CDs, DVDs (also movies on 7" screen), and MP3 & WMA audio. Made a music CD in *.wma audio that contained 10 hours of music. Played beautifully in the Mark Levinson audio system. On recent "Rte 66" trip, averaged 30.15 MPG over all. ES 350 is as advertised; I absolutely love this car!
