Worst car I have ever owned.
The car is over priced. Rides rough. No lumbar in seats until you spend $86,000. Air conditioner doesn?t work right. Screens go out a lot. Navigation works poorly and is not user friendly. Windows fog up. Cars aren?t distinguished well when you up grade. I have P380 and it?s slow. I have owned a lot of cars and SUV?s. This SUV needs to be destroyed. I also there is recall that can lead to a fire. This SUV is not even on the list of well made cars.

Most Ill-conceived Vehicle
Definitely not my cup of tea. Driving this car is more dangerous than texting while driving. Engineers refer to its overall design as "Feature Creep". Everything has 6 options, with the most common ones being poorly accessible through the confusing Two Screen driver assist system. My wife chose this car for some illusion of luxury that I do not understand. She too has grown unhappy with her choice. Owning (fortunately leased) this car is like a bad relationship that sours each time we get together. I like a car that I "drive", not "aim" in a general direction. The steering feedback is non existent (in any driving mode) and the brakes do not respond to pedal pressure in a linear fashion at low speed. Unnecessarily complicated controls. The computer system is set to do what it wants to do NOT what I want to do. I can dim my headlights to oncoming traffic and not have this dumb sensor flashing my high beams on and off. The side view mirrors are set to tilt down by default so the dealer had to walk me through changing that setting and was happy to disable the dimming feature as the "default" mode. I might add that it took them a few tries on the mirror adjustment. I do not live in city and regularly park alongside curbs. Besides, I have been driving for 55 years and never had an issue in that regard. *To have your rear tire touch the curb is a far better option than to hit another car in a parking situation. Give me a gear shift lever please! Turning a dial that remotely changes gears is not intuitive and just another gadget waiting to freeze up in extreme cold. Speaking of cold weather, I understand there are several items (defrosters, and hence wiper function and washer fluid nozels that do not work as intended and are scheduled for recall. VISIBILITY in this car is the worst I have ever encountered. Headrests block rear visibility as does over the angled rear window which is darkly tinted. Structural roof supports are unnecessarily wide, obscuring driver vision. The shape of the car is such that you have to guess where the body begins and ends on four corners. TWO screens and another obscure settings menu on the steering is madness. I expect that owners will start reporting accidents because they have to search through menus while under way, just to make simple adjustments that should be intuitive. Interior lighting gets an "F". You have to feel around to find various switches as they do not have any illumination to assist you in the dark. Egress is poor, even with the pre-set seat adjustments. I am 6 ft. and the egress into my Mini Cooper S is easier, having more distance from seat to headliner than the Velar does. Front seat bottoms are too hard and become uncomfortable after 30 minutes or so. Spacing between center console edges and seats is too narrow. You cannot get your hand between to retrieve an object that falls in between. If you enjoy the thought of being in a driver-less car without the AI we will soon see, then this is the car for you. I might add that I am not a technofobe and own a boat with a new GPS system that offers numerous navigation features, more complex than this "Driver Assist" system and I have easily learned that and use it without issue. About the only good thing is the limited amount of time & mileage I will have to endure with the car.

The best car
This car is simply a masterpiece. Highest level of technology, safety, beauty and comfort. The only problem is that when you drive a range rover you don?t want to drive any other car.

Great car
Love owning the velar- the interior design is top notch and it drives perfectly. Only wish the doors would automatically unlock when you approach the vehicle (without having to click unlock).

Wouldn?t trade it for anything on the market
We took delivery of our Velar P380 R-Dunamic SE in Oct 2017, and despite one recall (HVAC fogging) + a software update to stabilize the screens, I wouldn?t trade this car in for anything on the market. It?s the perfect blend of style & performance, and I smile every time I?m in it. Highly, highly recommended to anyone who wants form & function.
