Not bad for the money

I have a 2006 jeep liberty sport 4x4 with 54,000 at 39,000 miles the the a/c compresser failed 41,000 key was stuck in the ignition had to take it to the dealer to have it removed.Jeep runs great if you keep up on your oil changes use only 5w 30 flush your coolant and transmission every 30,000 you will have very few problems with the liberty don't forget transfer case to at 30k.Great suv in the snow with the correct tire.Stock goodyear wrangler are the worst.Replace with a good tire.

turbo diesel 06 liberty

I read the review of the 06 liberty in popular mechanics, I have had diesels for years including ford trucks and mercedes benz. the liberty with the 2.8 liter mercedes diesel is a little rocket ship, strong torque and good milage. I love this little critter! My only problem is the tough offroad supspension makes the drive fatiguing when you have to drive say 200 or 300 miles at once. However, I was in a 3 car wreck and I was the only one of 6 people that did not have to go to the hospital, I was fortunate but the jeep was mercedes like in the head on crash at about 30 mph. I had a bruised knee and sore ribs but I was able walk away. If you want power, 20mpg, safety, and a tough offroad vehicle the turbo is a bargain.

LibertySport 6 Speed Stick

I have owned my Liberty Sport since new it is my second Liberty (previous one was an 04) This is a truly great vehicle built like a little tank with great handeling. Mine is a six speed stick with four wheel drive it will go anywhere! Value for the money its tops mine was bought new at an end of the year clearance for half of list! I have installed many factory options and since new there have been no problems. I now have 38,000 miles on it and own it for 36 months. If they still made the little Liberty I would buy another however the new model looks like a box and is too big for me! Enjoy Steve

Problems!

I bought this Jeep used in February. On the the way home I noticed that the cruise wasnt working. Went out later that night and it was working so didnt think much of it. As I continued to drive my Jeep I noticed that if I hit a bump to hard that the ABS/ESP lights would come on and this is when the cruise doesnt work. At first the lights would go off fairly soon. But now they are on all the time. I took it to get checked out and they said it needed a new ABS Module. I took it back to get that installed and after they got it put in it still wastn fixed. Now they say theres a short in it. They spent half the day last Friday and didnt find it and they want it for a whole day this week. Now they say it is on the inside.

not stylish, but great for the snow

I bought my Jeep for the 4wd and I liked the exterior. The interior lacks several standard features you would expect with this year. The rear seats fold easily except you have to move the front seat up to squeeze past the back headrest. Also The front seats do not recline well or move back very far. Not made for tall people!

Best vehicle I've ever owned

What a bargain for such a great vehicle. It is a relatively smooth ride, gas mileage is decent for an SUV and it is great in the snow.

3rd Jeep Liberty with problems

My 2006 Liberty with 68000 miles just blew the rear end. No warning, the gears just broke. I've NEVER had a rear end go....not even on junkers I've bought off the side of the road. My daughter's 2006 Liberty has had all the windows fail and the heater doesn't work correctly. I still have 5 years to pay on this car and now I have to sink from $2,000. to $5,000 to have it fixed depending on whether a used rear end can be found, which isn't looking good. I'm done with jeeps and I've had 8 of them, from the wrangler to the Grand Cherokee.

Road noise and rear space are a problem.

I have really enjoyed my Liberty for the most part but the lack of space in the backseat and the road noise at speeds over 45 mph has really put a damper on a good car. The gas mileage is very respectable, especially for an SUV.

Good vehicle for the money

My wife and I both have 06 Liberty sports. I have had no trouble with mine. I live in Maine and it has been terrific handling in the deep snow and icy conditions. My wife has had to have the transmission replaced and only has 25,000 miles on hers. There seems to be some linkage issues, as it's slow to engage from reverse to drive. The gas mileage is average for a SUV. I would recommed this vehicle for anyone that deals with winter weather, but not for warm climate areas. It's a reliable vehicle, just be aware of the poor transmission issues and get extended warranty coverage if available.
