Great Deal, Nice SUV

This is the second SUV i've owned and in comparing it to my toyota 4 runner this jeep is a dream. There's no rust. None. There seems to be a few problems that every owner seems to have. The stock tweeters blow at mid to high volume. The headlights sometimes retain water and fog. But overall it has a nice feel for the transition model it is. I paid 8400 for mine in 2006. It came with 94,000 miles, 4.7 V8, Leather, premium stereo, 10 disc changer, tow package and so on. The only problems i have seriously had with the vehical have been self inflicted. Owning a V6 prior just doesn't cut it. It was too under powered and ends up using almost the same amount of gas to maintain speed. I would most certainly recommend this SUV. It has a great deal of style to it as well. Every passenger i have had, has made a comment on the interior. It's very well desiged. It's also easy to clean. The jeep grand cherokee is a step up in luxuary for a very reasonable price.

Most Reliable Car I've Owned

i bought a 1999 jeep grand cherokee with a little over 100,000 miles on it. now it has over 200,000 miles on it and it still is running amazing. best car ive ever owned. i thouhgt the gas milage was going to be terrible for this car but suprisingly it was not bad. much better then my previous yukon.this is the absolute best car in the snow. i live in upstate new york where snow is terrible and ive never been stuck once. the price for new jeeps are a little extreme, for example my brother bought and 06 model for close to $40,000 and it doesnt even have leather or a sunroof. but to be honest this suv is worth every penny. i know some people have had worse experiences with this car and have wrote bad reviews for it but in all honesty no car is perfect and every car will have its problems including $60,000 BMW's.

I LOVE THIS VEHILE. BEST SUV ON THE MARKET, TODAY!

I HAVE HAD 3 OF THESE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED'S. 2004, 2002 AND A 1999. I STILL HAVE MY 1999. THE 1999 VERSION I FEEL WAS THE BEST EVER MADE. COMES WITH ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES. GETS 16 MPG-CITY AND 21 MPG HIGHWAY. IT HAS THE POWER WHEN EVER YOU NEED IT, BUT IT IS GREAT AT CRUSING TOO. THE NEW 2005 MODELS AND UP, HAVE THAT SQUARE LOOK, LIKE A BOX. THE 1999 HAS THAT SLICK CURVED LOOK, LIKE A PANTHER GOING DOWN THE ROAD. IF YOU CAN FIND ONE IN EXCELLENT SHAPE, FOR $10,000 TO $12,000, BUY IT, DO NOT EVEN HESITATE...

Love driving it, hate owning it

This is the second grand cherokee I have owned. I hoped the problems I had with the first were due to rough treatment by previous owner. Not the case. The transfer case had to be replaced (one of the same problems with the previous jeep). Squeaking in the rear wheel resulted in a major repair job. Two speakers have also been replaced. It, as well as the '96 previously owned, has been virtually problem free when it comes to the engine. It is somewhat noisy, but it isn't a car either, so I expected that. Overall, I would have expected more from the Jeep name and the price that goes with it.

Good 4x4 SUV

I bought my jeep with 81,000 mi. and have had no mechanical issues. The V8 is very smooth, quite and powerful. The V8 was named one of the top ten engines for 1999. Avoid the inline 6 which is less powerful, noisier and only achieves 1mpg better fuel economy. Handling is much better then competitors such as blazers or explorers. It feels buckled down in tight fast turns. This is probably due to the fact it uses a unibody frame instead of a body on frame design. The only problem I have had is the tweeters in the dash don't work but it seems to be a problem for other owners as well. The four wheel drive system works great in deep snow and other situations where it is needed. Overall it is a great SUV that I would recommend to anyone.

1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The interior of the 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee was a dream and was set up in a very useful and attractive way. It had the feel of a luxury car with the nameplate of a Jeep. The leather seats were terrific and the high visibility was wonderful. The storage was somewhat limited compared to a van but it was easier to park and turn. The drive was noisy to turn in a tight radius and the feel of the ride on a bumpy road was trully of a truck, not a luxury vehicle, which I did not like. The noise was loud and every stop at the dealers involved something that was expensive, so i was annoyed at that and it soured my view of the vehicle. Nevertheless it had a good 4 wheel drive functionality and the body held up well. The speakers didn't but maybe we abused the noise level more than we should have. It is, afterall, a Jeep, not a luxury Lexus, but it's price was almost there. Buy one, if you desire, with the warranty still in place to be sure you get things as they should be and check to see that the vehicle hasn't been treated too roughly or you'll likely be surprised with the high cost of future repairs!
