This is a great car besides the exterior paint chipping

This is a great car besides the exterior paint chipping off after a few years, the radio and screen unit started having issues and would consistently shut off and on while driving, and from my experience I would advise to get some sort of antitheft protection because Hyundais and specifically even Sonatas are pretty easy to be stolen, as mine did recently and was not able to get it fixed by insurance! Now I am looking for a new car urgently and would NOT go back to Hyundai.

Save your money and get a Japanese vehicle.

Save your money and get a Japanese vehicle. I hark back to yesteryear when Detroit and quality was not the norm and we were saddled with overpriced garbage. Problematic would be an understatement. The recalls, flaking paint, inoperative power mirrors etc etc etc. I's a shame as we had a 2005 Sonata with a V6 and outside of the paint issues it ran smooth and was extremly reliable, so what happened in 11 years?

Engine gone at 165 kms.

Engine gone at 165 kms. Hyundai denied to change as it was out of warranty. Have to spend from my pocket. Never recommend Hyundai anymore.

The car sucks

After 90k miles, this car became a nightmare. One problem after another showed up and they literally did not stop. The whole burning oil issue was resolved by Hyundai and they are replacing the engines, but some parts that should also be replaced are not. I got a brand new engine from the company due to the oil consumption issue, and as soon as I drove it off the lot the car started shaking. Now I have another problem. If you get a white sonata they don’t mention that it has a paint defect and it is a ticking time bomb before that paint pops right off. I would be here all day if I were to explain all the issues about this car. I have zero trust in this company moving forward. If you insist on getting a Hyundai for some reason, Do yourself a favor and skip the 2016 white sonatas because they are quite literally broken cars. P.S everything I listed are things you can actually research yourself.

Windows don't work

My car has 22,000 miles windows are not working they go down won't go up or if you pull them up they drop down where alot of air gets in. It's expensive to fix the cheap plastic part because the labor will take long because they made it very hard to get to the part. Very upset both front windows don't work afraid to try the back. I read pages of complaints but they haven't recalled them because of the labor time involved. I loved my car until this but who knows what's next to fail

Oil leak, no one will help

I was so excited to purchase this car. It started leaking oil after a year. The dealership or manufacture will not accept any part of this problem. I still owe $9,000 on the car. I a senior , on SS and no one will help me. Do not get sucked into this , they do not care about people.

Wouldn't buy another one

I want to like this car - and sometimes I do. But as I've owned it I like it less and less. It bought it at 43K miles and it was pretty good until about 90K miles. Then it's been one problem after another. Started burning oil at 95K which I have come to learn is a common problem with GDI engines in general. I now have 114K and have to dump oil in every few weeks. Lots of problems with sensors and the check engine light. It was a good price but I won't buy another Hyundai. Just trying to nurse it along for another 3-4 months.

Poor performance

Mysterious electrical shorts Dealer in DeLand is not efficient. Wanted to do extra work they could charge for and not fix the problem. Car battery was replaced. It still drains in less than 24 hours.

Only owned a year

Only had this car ONE YEAR and feels like this car has been in the shop more than I’ve got to drive it. Radio and screen gave out on me after 2 months, refuses to fix it and quoted me 1500. Engine blew, been in the shop 3 weeks as I’m left carless after being so excited about buying my first car. I’m very upset I didn’t dig deeper into my research because this car is so unreliable. I’ve probably spent hundreds of dollars on just putting more and more oil in my car. I have to fill the oil up about ever 3-4 days. STAY AWAY FROM THIS TROUBLESOME CAR!!!
