Terrible

I have had my 2012 Hyundai Accent for 6 months now and it has already gone in for an engine rebuild, well it needed a short motor and new drive shaft, but they pretty much replaced the whole front end. Not only that, but it now has an oil leak, which i took it back to hyundai who said nothing wrong with it and it's normal. My partner works with cars and he had a look a week later and noticed it still dripping oil! took it back to hyundai only to be told it is a problem with the head gasket! In a brand new car these things should not happen!! not happy at all!

You should know this before purchas:No spare tire

One thing surprised me was that there is no spare tire in hyundai accent 2013 GLS A/T. This feature is not being mentioned in the window sticker, any expert reviews and by the sale persons. Probably less than 1% custermer know this before they purchased this car. It is not fair not to let customer know this because most of them assumed that there is alway a spre tire in the trunck.!

Very Disappointed

Purchased my 2012 Accent hatchback in May and have had nothing but problems. Gas mileage is about half of what Hyundai rated it for. I have had it back once for a minor electrical problem and had to call RoadSide Assistance for a major problem. As of today the odometer has gone crazy. Today I drove 6 km while the car was running, sitting in my driveway and the 2 km drive to my local grocery store was clocked at 12 km. This will be my first and last Hyundai product.

most buyer's regret I have experienced

The car looks great inside and out. I find it very uncomfortable on long drives. I own the hatchback model and as another poster poster stated the rear window view is TINY. It cones with a rear window wiper standard. The reason it comes standard is that when it rains or has condensation you cannot see whats behind you. I call it a design flaw. As far as the 40 mpg claim, yes you can.if you live in a place where every direction is downhill. The 6 gear transmission likes to stay in the highest gear possible to attain the MPG . So when you have to step on the gas as in merging onto highway traffic the tachometer will go from 2000 to almost redline. I can go on bur ran out of allowable space in a split second.

New Accent attractive and smooth

I bought my Accent SE in June 2012 in Sacramento. I paid $16,900, and chose it over the Kia Soul Plus for its lower price (almost $1000) and better gas mileage. It's a fun car to drive, very smooth, like a little sports car. Has plenty of pep, drove to Reno up Hwy 80 and it went up those mountains easily, and faster than I should have gone! It has cruise, steering wheel function controls, an arm rest that is at the right height, plenty of room to load items in the rear with the seats down. Adequate room in the back for passengers, but not for long trips. So far (two months) my only complaints are: 1. Stereo has inadequate power! Needs a pre-amp. 2. So far have not even come CLOSE to the 40 mpg advertised as highway mileage. Two trips so far that involved mostly highway miles and barely made 32 mpg. Round town driving has averaged about 30 mpg so far. That was what was advertised, and it has delivered on that. I'm still waiting for the 40 mpg on a trip!

Just getting started

There are less than 1,000miles on my new Accent. Mostly in the city driving. I understood the capacity of the Gas tank to 14gal, but turns out only 11.4 gal and so far have only got 25-27mpg in the city so need a fill up every 350miles or so more often than I planned. The interior is roomy and well planned. Surprising amount of cargo space in the hatch. The AC isn't as agressive as my 2003 Elentra but is ok once the cabin cools. Didn't get quite what I thought in trade for my car so I paid about $500 more than I planned. Still well with in my price range. Handles well generally, good turning radius, bit stiff over bumps.

Awesome Green Hyundai

I bought the car 2 months ago and I have put 3000 miles on it. I am very impressed with this car. It is everything I wanted and more. The styling is top notch (I think Hyundai is continuing to hit homeruns with their vehicles) and the fuel economy is superb. Just last week, I filled up in my home town and drove to Austin, Texas, which is about 60 miles away. I drove back and filled up again. I divided the total miles by the amount of gas and I got just over 42 mpg. Granted, I drove extremely gently (I didn't drive faster than 60 mph and was very careful when it came to stopping and going). I average around 34 mpg in combined driving. There are a few minor things that I had to get used to. I switched from a 2010 Honda Civic to the Accent GLS. The outside mirrors feel a little on the cheap side and the wheel well lip is very thin. But, for the price I paid for this car, it serves my needs. There is plenty of room and the dash design is one of the best I've seen. I have had absolutely no problems with my car "Kermit". It has performed flawlessly since new. I continue to "sell" my car to others who are in the market for a new one. I am sold on Hyundai!

Surprised - Hatchback

I compared this car with the Ford Fiesta. It was cheper and offered me the same features as the Fiesta. I have a couple of compliants (but to me their minor) the visability is not great (but I have no problem using my mirrors) and the cabin is a little loud. On the positive side the car drives great and it doesn't feel like an econmy car (to me) from the inside.

Very unreliable....transmission on the manual

I cannot make a claim on the automatic. However, having over 20 years driving manual vehicles from Prelude, Civic, and Mazda 626, as well as been a driver in the military, this is the worst performing car ever driven. MAJOR ISSUES: Years of driving manual vehicles, this is the 1st and only one which I have experienced issues acceleration from a complete stop, as well as a steep slope.
