Great SUV...

Bought a used 2011 Touring and for the price, we are very happy with both the gas mpg for the size of this SUV and the smooth drive. This is a big SUV both inside and outside and it drives very smooth for its size. As far as features, while other brands charge you extra for most of them, the Pilot have them all included as standard features, compare and you will see.

Very Happy Buyer

Very happy with the 2011 Pilot EXL. Very spacious, lots of cargo room, 3rd row seating, to go with a surprisingly smooth ride- feels like the Accord I used to own. Not sure how Honda was able to make a big SUV ride like a car, but they did it. Excited to try the 4 wheel drive this winter in the snow. Love all the extra compartments in the console area- great for long road trips. Very happy so far with my decision on the Pilot.

Must be driven in a Life time

Handles very well at the beach and also on rough terrains. Gas consumption for such a vehicle is reasonable and I will recommend to others.

A SUV for all ages

Power, Safety, Gadgets, The real deal. Towing capacity, seating 7 with trunk room. Quiet need to experience to appreciate. Retractable Sun Roof that works. Regular fuel at 18 mpg on five fill ups around town driving. Has ECO for driving guidance on fuel consumption. The last of the affordable SUV's. I have parked the Mercedes.

Awesome and to s of space

Great family vehicle. LX model certainly stripped down on options but great vehicle overall. Gas does seem to go quick based on gallons per miles but this is expected for a SUV.

very dependable vehicle

my second pilot. first has 144k miles and still runs great. honda has excellent engineering for their vehicles. one thing noticed on both pilots, need to work on road noise in car. still a very good vehicle.

Most Practical Car I've Owned

This is my second Honda Pilot EX-L. I purchased my first back in 2005 as a vehicle to tow behind my motor home and also carry my craft show exhibit and inventory to various craft shows. It was an answer to my desires. over the seven years that I had it, I traveled 117,000 miles and had the best experience on performance, reliability and maintenance costs. I traded it in for a 2011 Honda Pilot EX-L. Main reason was to upgrade for the next seven years. I again have all that I need, style, performance, comfort, resale potential and reliability. I am a very happy Honda owner.

Best car ever driven

The Honda Pilot is pretty large, but very easy to drive. It is comfortable and built quality is great, does not use as much gas as I thought. Its engine is powerful, smooth, and very quiet. The only complaint I have is its awkwardly-designed part above the glove box-it is useless, unsafe and takes some leg space of the front row passenger. The car has close to 40000 miles and I love it more, will buy another Honda Pilot next time.

Honda Pilot 2011

My wife and I love our Honda Pilot - thus far (after 16k miles). It has plenty of interior cargo room and space for packing in the family. On multiple occasions, we've ridden with our baby and my wife's family (2 adults in 3rd row, 2 in middle and one in passenger). Her two brothers did comment on the lack of leg room in the third row but were comfortable otherwise. I'm 6'3" and have tolerated far worse than what the third row offers for leg space in the Pilot. Regardless, we usually keep the third row down for groceries or other large items. The towing capacity is also very nice (4500 lbs). I have a 20' (2700 lb) boat that the Pilot is able to tow without any issues. The Pilot is equipped with a transmission cooler and sensor that triggers a warning light when the transmission becomes too hot. That sure gave me piece of mind whenever I towed my boat from MA to RI. Moving on, the AWD (VSA) and 4WD (VTM-4) come in handy during the New England winter. We had a pretty bad snow storm last October and happened to be out right in the middle of it. I engaged the 4WD by pressing the VTM-4 button and was able to get my family safely home through a nasty blizzard-like storm. Not once did I feel the Pilot getting away from me during our 40 mile commute. Going back to the AWD feature: The Pilot is mostly a FWD vehicle, but will automatically engage the AWD system when it senses slippage or when accelerating from a stop. This is very nice to have while it's raining or during light snow - another aspect of the Pilot that gives me piece of mind. Now, onto the negatives... The Pilot is a huge gas hog. We are averaging 18 mpg (HWY and city) and make frequent stops at the pump. The ECO mode is a great idea, but it doesn't seem to be doing much for gas efficiency. Another thing that kinda annoys me about the Pilot is its lack of HP (250). The Pilot is a heavy vehicle (4500 lbs) and feels a little slow and sluggish at times. With it being such a gas guzzler, I'd expect it to be a little more powerful. Other than that, we love our Pilot and feel that it meets most of our expectations for a mid-large sized SUV.
