Honda Civic Ex 2002

I bought this car for my husband in 2003, with very few miles on it. I was attacked to it because of the styling and colored dashboard. This civic is a five speed manual, two door, sun roof, red with blackish interior. This car is fun to drive so we will never trade it in. The car has at least 140, 000 miles on it and has had virtually no trouble. I regret purchasing an extended Warrenty which I never did use. The only repairs on the car were routine: tires, brakes, and we replaced the clutch once. I am not sure of the difference between the civic models made that year, however, I believe this car was at the top of the line. The color of the car still looks great after all of these years. I highly recommend this vehicle.

Not too shabby

I bought this car used with 90k miles on it. I believe if the previous owner took better care of it, I would not need to put so much money into fixing it. The a/c doesn't work, all my brakes are shot, the ceiling is losing its adhesive, it leaks oil, the front passenger side window has always had problems even after fixing it, and a partridge in a pear tree. It does get great gas mileage (28-30 combined) and if you fail to close your door all the way, you could literally push it closed with a single finger instead of having to open the door again. When I first bought this car, it was totally worth the minor details that needed to be fixed. But as I stand here writing this review, these details seem to keep appearing. I thought I would get 200k miles out of this car, but now I wanna sell it before it hits 100k. I put myself in a terrible position and you shouldn't do the same. if there's multiple things wrong with it, it ain't worth it. Maintenance is cheap, I get it, but get something worth spending your money on.

Well Rounded Car

I got this car a few months ago. This car averages 30 mph in mixed driving conditions. The interior is comfortable. This car accelerates fast. When driving the car, routine handling is responsive. The car is extremely reliable.

GOOD CAR TO HAVE!

I recently survived a head on collision in this car (8-29-14) a 4DR EX. We had bought it in 2001 new. Would have kept it for life but this accident killed it. By the grace of God I lived. The SRS (airbag light) had been on a few years but my mechanic said the bags will still deploy in an accident. They did and while I suffered 11 broken ribs, collar bone, and ankle as well as multiple lacerations (glass breaking), the Civic did it's job a protected me until it's last breath. Got full value on it from my insurance company. The only issue I had was about 3 months before the accident had to put a new transmission in for 3k, but every way the car was perfect! Air, radio, CD all worked up until the accident. Had 135k on it.

good little car

I have enjoyed my civic. The only repairs I've had done are new catalytic converter and sensor. It requires little maintenence and is a great car!

No longer has quality workmanship

We no longer will be a Honda family. The first of two 2001 Honda Civics had the driver air bag fail during accident causing driver to sustain broken nose even while wearing seat belt. The second Honda Civic started requiring repairs as soon as the warranty run out. At 124,000, the motor needed new seal per Honda dealership which would cost twice what car was worth. The last 2008 Honda Civic was not bought new and did not have the warranty. At 48,000 miles it required new motor mounts to keep from tearing up engine and transmission. It seems Honda is no longer using quality parts and workmanship on their vehicles. I will not be investing my money in any more Honda's. All our vehicles have been kept up with to meet all maintenance care throughout ownership periods. All these vehicles were used for work and pleasure or just pleasure on the 2008 Honda Civic. The Work and Pleasure was within 10-15 mile radius. I did not receive value out of any we owned. My coworker's parents Honda had the motor blow up as soon as it reached over 100,000 miles. I though it was an isolated incident, but I can say it was the norm after having similar experience.

The Best Car

I had a 2001 Honda Civic LX sedan, bought used in '03 and had it for nearly 10 years. I loved this car. Never had any problems. Did the regular maintenance you would do with any car. I recently lost it in an accident with a truck hitting me at 50 mph from the passenger side. You think this car would have totally smashed. It didn't. It's quality-built. This car and its seatbelt saved my life. I had it for 10 years and I miss it so dearly. Had I not had the accident, I would have kept this car for life, and it would have lived like I bought it yesterday. Love this car. I will always have a Honda.

1st owner not the last honda

I got his car as my very 1st from my mom. We've had it since day one and it's never had an issue. typical maintenance (timing belt tires etc ) but not necessary for the 1st 10 yrs. It was our family car for vacations and we could make it from home to Vegas (5 hrs) and home to my aunts (8 hrs) on one tank. Perfect teenager car or "soccer mom" car. If you take care of it, it will take care of you.
