Kind of boring

I bought a 1997 white civic last year off of a used car lot. It is a manual (5 spd) EX with 130,000 miles on it. I loved it at first, but then it started to get kind of boring. There really isn't enough horsepower, and it isn't very comfortable. After a year of owning it I have spent at least $900 on repairs (Master cylinder, head light, oil pan crack/leak) eventually I will have to spend more money on a new transmission. It is a good car for getting around town in, but if you want something with more "umph" and more fun to drive consider something else.

Great College Car, not much else

I have owned this car for four years now, all and all it has been pretty good. I did have to get a new tranny (CVT) after the belt snaped in mine about a year ago (at 105,000 miles). I would stay clear of the CVT's. The car is not that powerful but does handle pretty good. I get good mpg, 32 everywhere since new tranny. When my tranny broke a big downside was that Honda could not even get me a new one. They couldn't fix it, told me to go somewhere else. It is also Loud inside. Mine is in great condition as well so it might be different for others. But with 150,000 miles and still going, I got my moneys worth out of it. A good reliable car with not much else to offer.

You just can't go wrong

A Civic isn't a sports car, but it's fun enough. It's not a luxury car, but it's comfortable. What a Civic IS is the best all around transportation ever built. It does it's job so well, and is so reliable, you just never have to worry about it. I've put 130,000 on my 97 EX and NOTHING has gone wrong. I mean nothing. I change my own oil, do my own brakes, tires twice, and I had the timing belt and all fluids done at 95,000. END OF HISTORY. I bet no Chevy has ever existed that can claim that. My 2000 Venture has cost me close to $3000 in repairs with less that 75,000 on it. I will NEVER, and I mean NEVER buy a Chevy again.

My 97 Honda Civic

This little car has taken me everywhere for the last 8 years. It's been very reliable, no major maintenance except an AC recharge. I added a Yakima roof rack system with a Copper Head bike mount which is included($400 value). It dose have a scratch on the trunk lid and a small ding above the rear passenger door. Besides that it's a super value and a gas saving machine!

Good beginner, economical

My first car, and it has served really well. Cheap to maintain, small and economical, as well as nice-looking. I have the LX sedan, and it's not for tall people. The car drives well if you're not a speed demon, though it's fun to suddenly jump the gun at times and hear the engine buzz, in a tame sense...It's rather uncomfortable on long rides, and the features on the LX are sparse, though livable--radio, AC, power windows and locks pretty much sums up my luxuries. A nice car for average driving.

Ultra-Reliable

Good car with enough power for average drivers. The best thing is its reliability; in six years I've spent next to nothing maintaining and repairing this car. Don't get the coupe if you're anywhere close to 6 feet tall.
