It gets great mileage, has good air conditioning.

It gets great gas mileage, has good air conditioning, and looks like brand new. The inside was well taken care of and I bought it dirt cheap.

1989 Honda Civic

Had my 89Civic Lx for year and it has been in an accident 5 times, two road hazard issues, three accidents where it was rear-ended. It is built like a tank according to the autopsy shops! Justin my cars name, is on his upgrade second engine to a Japanese made Honda engine. It came with a US engine and the Japanes engine is way better performance! I will never get rid of Justin, as he is way to valuable to me and saves me lots of money in gas every month! If it were not for me loaning him to a friend he would still be on his first engine, but the friend abused him and did not do the required maintenance (llike oil changes). I will never loan him out again to help a friend! With his cheap $3998 ENGINE replacement, it is the best money I ever spent garenteed 60K or less miles on the engine straight from Japan! Engine came complete from "Oriental Engines" in San Diego County, California. For anyone looking for a replacement engine. Extremely well made Civic's from 88-92 and still in high demand. Careful this car is on the hot list for being stolen.

Still going strong!

I bought the car new. It's the Si hatchback with the 108 horse 1.6L 5 spd. It now has 340,000 km which is about 215,000 miles. It has been incredibly reliable. Nothing on the engine needed to be touched until about 250km or so. It's had the starter, alternator, and distributor, and rad done once. Drive shafts twice, and clutch at 300km ... that's it! Brake discs and drums are original and never turned. (I do the work myself which is probably why .. shops tend to be a rip.) Sure it's needed 2 batteries and about 6 mufflers but I can't complain. And, it passes the government pollution test every year. Interior has held up extremely well. Vinyl and fabric are like new. Driver's seat now has a couple of small holes however. Back seats are fine for smaller people. Love the fold down room in back. Noise on the hwy is fairly high but I often just wear earplugs to dampen it out on a long trip. Factory sound system still works well other than replacing speakers due to deterioration. The sunroof sprung a bit of a leak this winter. The body is not fairing quite so well. It has cancer around the rear wheelwells .. mainly from the salt they put on our roads to counter the occasional winter ice. Gas mileage gets better with age. It's now up to 39 usmpg mixed city and hwy in summer and 36 in winter. The difference between city and hwy is slight, unless you sit for 2 hours every day. Performance is great with the 5 spd. Sure it's a lot of shifting around town but it sure hauls above 4000rpm which I rarely have to use. The manual steering is still nice and tight yet easy to handle. I would say that today, it would be a fantastic car for a student looking for reliability and economy.
