Ford Ranger Review

I am not a Ford person at all. I have owned Chevy and Dodge products. Due to some bad luck with Dodge/Fiat products I purchased a 2019 Ford Ranger. It is a 2wd, SLT, mid equipped. I find that I like it. It is comfortable for a mid size truck. Is it as comfortable as a F150 or a RAM. No. but it is not uncomfortable. It drives good. When you are driving it you get a good feel of the road and is very agile. The back seat can be a little cramped but you can't expect much from a mid size truck. I will tell you that it is MUCH more comfortable than the GM midsize truck. The entertainment system is good and the sound is good. Only a couple of things that I don't like but can live with. One is that I drive with my arm on the armrest and my hand on the shifter. The shifter is off to the right and not centered. Its a little uncomfortable. The other thing is that the window controls on the drivers door are behind my hand. I am 5'8 so I have the seat forward. Other than the couple little things it is a good truck and is a good value.

Bargain Safety Features

There was almost a 10,000 discount with the Ford rebates. The Toyota with similar features was 36 to 40k but Ford sold theirs for 25k. However, there is a risk of betting on their EcoBoost engine due to its complexity AND the risk of carbon buildup.

The Jury is still out!

I have put around 1000 miles on it and nine and initial feelings are it is over engineered. Who wants a pickup that shuts off at every light? 10 speed transmission is overkill, unless you are towing it skips every other gear. Info center a pain, won't stay connected to phone.

Solid, quiet, up to date safety features

Comfortable, quiet solid built truck. This vehicle has more safety features than my 2018 Mercedes. 4 wheel drive is available when needed yet rides well on the street. Room for 5 passengers and can haul most anything I need in the 5 ft bed. 4 cylinder motor is plenty quick enough yet reasonably good on gas. This really is one complete vehicle

Nothing but issues

Bought my 2019 Ranger in August 2019. Within the first month of owning the truck I had coolant leaking into the passenger foot well due to a leaking heater core. It has since had 2 power train faults causing reduced power (won't accelerate above 90km/h). The first time I was told it was due to a misfire caused by a faulty spark plug. I'm currently in another Ford service waiting room awaiting the new diagnosis

Just bought it. So far so good

Stylish, comfortable and a 4 cylinder which is good gas mileage. The perfect truck for a retiree. The interior is also very nice and roomy. The navigation is easy to operate.

Jury is still out; love it so far

Still learning how to work all the technology gadgets. Don’t really care for the auto start/stop technology; no biggie though. Just switch it off when I start the engine. Overall, I think I’m gonna love it!

4x4 better ride and handling

test drive 2x vs 4x xlt no comparison with quietness and quality feel of the two. Felt like I was driving the typical small 4 banger with the 2x, but tthe 4x made all the difference. I may buy but heard from review the ac wont keep up. that is an issue here. Further research needed and cant test in January.
