This is a Fine Mid-Size Car

I owned the 2013 Fusion SE with the 2.0 Liter Turbo engine for 10 years, and I loved it. It even had paddle shifters! It got me where I wanted to go, never left me stranded, even started right up in 6-degree weather on a trip last Dec. where it spent the night outside. Everything worked reliably - only replacements have been battery & tires. I kept it well-maintained and garaged when home, so that helps.

Do NOT Buy. Not worth it.

This car is the worst sedan I have ever owned. I will never buy another sedan from Ford. The transmission is janky. After 4 years the clear coat on the paint started peeling off. The labels on the buttons on the center console have faded or chipped away. The vertical plastic trim on the doors has cracked/shattered just from normal opening and closing. The transmission linkage has needed repair twice. The coolant system constantly runs out of coolant and requires monitoring to ensure it doesn't get too low. The car sits way too low in the ground to the point of hitting the bottom of the vehicle on every possible bump no matter how slow you go. The interior's plastic quality is abysmal; multiple pieces have fallen apart. The faux leather covering the steering wheel is horribly damaged and cracked. The faux leather on the gear shifter has become a gooey like substance that will stain your fingers. The car handles well and it wasn't too expensive. I just wish the aesthetic parts would have remained intact longer that 5 years.

Unreliable

Good looking car, but my experience has been horribly unreliable, to the point where I get anxiety on taking this car on any road trips. Looks nice from both interior/exterior, though it doesn’t get great gas mileage, though it could be worse certainly. My issues with this car have been reliability. I have had so many coolant issues, resulting in at least one new water pump, a new head gasket, and over the last two years have put over $5000 into this car for repairs. My whole head gasket and water pump systems with the coolant were fixed less than a year ago, yet I am now running into similar coolant issues, despite being religious about brining my car in for check-ups. I would advise getting another year of Ford or another brand of car. Just not trustworthy in my experience.

Aging Gracefully with Styling

My parents bought me the 2013 Fusion Titanium in Sept 2022 and two months in, the car is still giving me the giggles. Within these two months, I've found the comfort to review my stance on it but before I do that I'll explain my first thoughts I had when I saw it for the FIRST TIME. First of all, I have it in the Ruby Red and that stood out to me. The car has an aggressive styling which is another highlight of mine and seeing it in red had me thinking it was at least a 2018 car but it is a 2013. The styling has really aged well. I also loved the rear spoiler and the fog lights. Now that I've had it for two months, here is how I feel: I love the taillight design especially with the LEDs. I do not like that the headlamps are halogen for 2013 Titanium package. I also think the car is quite low especially over high-speed bumps and seating in general. I put the memory seats on the highest level and I am 5'10. I love the touch-sensitive buttons which gets alot of hate but I think it's unique and luxurious. I love the keyless entry, remote start and the paddle shifters. Oh my gosh the horsepower and torque really kicks with the paddle shifters.

Great car with Concerns

It’s a great car! I’ll give it that, very fast and sporty look has a great stance. One problem I have with it is the transmission, it lags during the shift to 3rd gear. One thing I like is as soon as you put your feet on the accelerator, it immediately goes which sometimes catches me off guard. Exterior styling is one of the favorites especially the sporty grille! Climate Stack is a little cumbersome to get used to especially when having to use the screen to change the airflow. I find the seats to be ok except the front passenger seat, the seat is way too low and can’t be adjusted either as well as the lumbar being too far front which makes you sit in a awkward position. but overall it’s a great comfy car for a first time buyer! don’t be afraid to get this car either, if normal climate controls and little lag transmission doesn’t seem to bother you, i’d say go for it, it’s a great car to own!

Not all it's cracked up to be...

I purchased my 2013 Ford Fusion in 2016, with 43k miles. Immediately after purchasing, some of the plastic trim pieces started falling off. I little super-glue was enough to keep those in place. Within the first year, the stereo started glitching. Usually shutting the car off, and starting again would fix it, but the BT is intermittent at best. The heat-shield under the engine fell off 4 times (even when the dealership re-attached it). This thing feels like a giant chunk of plastic. It drives ok, it looks great, and it's very comfortable, but it just isn't built well.

REPORT ON MY 2013 FORD FUSION SE IN YEAR 2022

I purchased my Fusion SE new. I was the first SE Fusion with the Midnight Blue color that was only offered for the Hybird models that year. I waited for mine to be made to my specs. Comfort wise my 2013 Fusion SE rates 3rd in my lifetime of cars owned, only surpassed by my Ford Conversion Van and Ford Flex SE. I've found my Fusion to be superior to all cars in it's class including Nissans, Toyotas on performance, handling and comfort. My 2013 Fusion SE is an outdoor car (no garage or protection from sun etc.) On it's 9th year with a paint job that's equal to a newly purchased vehicle! Highway mileage with the 6 speed automatic transmission has reached 50mpg and City mileage as high as 26mpg. It shifts positively and is so beautifully balanced it can out coast all vehicles. Minor repairs only, and a few recall upgrades. Truly the most impressive and durable vehicle in it's class to date! I will keep my 2013 Ford Fusion SE as long as I can.
