handles surprisingly great in the snow!!!

does great in the snow, handles well, the hatchback is roomy and convenient. When you move the passenger seat forward you can fit larger objects in the backseat. The steering wheel is in an odd position for me, for some reason it's just not comfortable to hold onto. An awesome little car, perfect for first time buyer or business person!

Nice Car

Planty of room for hauling things and very comfortable. The car is on the lower end of the spectrum for pricing, but offers everything I needed in a smaller cqr. The gas mileage is not that great, but still better than an SUV or other wagons.

Worst car I've ever had

The car I had was less than 5 years old and I already had to change the transmission, many cables and hoses, the engine was about to break down at any moment (seen by different mechanics). Trade in value was $1000. Spent more fixing and replacing than what I paid for. Worst of all, most parts were only available at dealer. Hope this helps others to avoid making the same costly mistake I did. Would never recommend this car to anyone.

Trustworthy Car

This was the first car I ever purchased for myself. I bought my car in the summer of 2002 and it has been wonderful! I've only replaced the battery once and have never had substantial issues or problems with my car. She runs very smoothly and gets respectable mpg. My only complaint is the brake pads which seem to deteriorate more rapidly in Fords (from what I'm told) than other cars. This causes the brakes to squeak a bit more than on other cars. Solid, reliable, and a cute car for someone looking for an inexpensive mode of transportation.

another american car disappointment

ive only owned my focus zx3 for a year and a half, and its nothing special. in fact, the brakes and tires both wore too fast. the steering wheel creaks, the shifter sticks, and my power options are failing one at a time(windows, locks, etc) the only good thing is the handling..the 24 mpg im getting, which by the way is about 5mpg less than the EPA estimates. the ride is loud and bumpy.

142,000 miles later...

I have mixed feelings about my little 2002 Focus SE. I bought it used three years ago for 4500. It had 90k miles on it. Now I'm up past 142. I live in Maine, and it seemed to winter just fine. I get pretty good gas mileage (generally between 28 and 30) I've had to replace the struts, motor mount, and timing belt. I had some mystery electrical problems, and the car kicks occasionally. But I can't complain...I got it cheap and it seems to still be going relatively strong.

not worth it...

this was an ok car when first bought(used) but getting to be a pain. the fuel filter, brakes, egnition switch, & transmission have all been replaced & more continues to need replacing. i have put almost as much money into reparing it as i did when it was purchased.

Not worth the money

I have a 2002 Ford Focus SE. I bought this car less than 2 years ago and it has under 71,000 miles on it. I don't go over 80 mph in it and get it's oil changed every 3,000 miles. Yet, I have already had to replace the front struts, brake drums, the power steering rack, and the transmission- plus my A/C isn't working. I've spent almost as much repairing the car as I did buying it. Also, it handles poorly in the snow/slush- I slide all over the place going 5 mph!
