93 Crown Vic LX - sports car
Terrific design, fuel efficient, comfort and stability. May be driven hard with safety. I have experienced a water leak at the feet of the front Pax since years, unable to trace with a complete tear -down. Others report same situation, Ford is not helpful. Also a leaking Valve Guide since I bought it. Will go miles without any loss of oil then abruptly it blows blue after a stop. SpeedO is a problem. Transmission failed at 60K miles- the rebuild has been good. Other small stuff like water pump, heater hoses, heater core, etc. replace headlamps due to aging of crummy plastic. A/C died at 80K miles, replaced with new system. Ball-joints etc are great as long as they are lubricated. Ford made a huge mistake by deleting this sedan from inventory. It needs some "HOT" styling updates, but is a real road car that is hard to beat. I bet that the Merc cousin, being the same just does not have the same trim appeal as the CV. Also the Merc Marauder package should be available. The car is not a high-cost production model as it carried assemblies that date back 20 years. Headlight switches in the Mercs and CV's run Hot and burn the Plug connector! (HEY FORD), Window lifts & motors can be annoying, but are easily repaired. Show me a Jag or a Mercedes that can match this reliability! Chevy, any GM product, forget it! Worked on them all, Ford seems to have mastered the KISS formula with technology in the Crown Vic. The single OH Cam is stable, but would prefer to drive the DOC unit with Police Brakes (dual piston Calipers and a larger sweep on a larger rotor). What car doesn't have problems?"

Most comfortable big car I've ever owned
This car is amazing. yes, it's a dinosaur, but it seats six actual adults with comfort, gets 27MPG at 75 miles per hour, and my last one ran for 250,000 miles with tires, brakes and oil changes. It's a shame that Ford quit building the old girl...

Weekend Boater
This car is just what I need as a daily driver and as an economical way of hauling my 21 foot boat to the Delta. A small SUV just doesn't have the capacity to haul a medium size boat. I would really hate to buy a Suburban or Expedition and pay $30K plus poor gas mileage every day just to haul my boat on a few weekends out of the year.
