LOVE, LOVE this truck!
Love this truck, very comfortable and rides great. The only issue I have had is with the radiator fluid, and this might be a bad (off market) cap. Haven't pinned the problem down, but no anti-freeze in oil or out of tail, so I am thinking it is not anything serious. 168,000 mi and runs strong.

Best truck I've ever owned
Best mid size pickup I've been around. I've seen this truck and put this truck through absolute xxxx. Mine is a 3.9l v6 with a 5 speed manual and currently has 190000 miles on her and they have not been easy miles. Currently having issues with the transmission. But like I said the years have been rough on her. Will gladly recommend this truck to anyone. Take care of it and it will take care of you. 5 stars on all but interior design. Because one of the cup holders can only hold cans because the stick hits it in 2,4, and R. Really just a design flaw for the manual trans. But still a xxxx good truck.

Exciting car, beautiful exterior, strong engine.
I drive a red Dodge Dakota 2001 Sport 4.7 liter V8 with a red topper. It is a beautiful car, I purchased it with ~50,000 miles and it now has around 65,000. It has no rust, no bumps, scratches, dents, anything. I replaced the sound system with a 4.1 jbl setup and a Pioneer stereo. It is the most beautiful truck I have ever seen, lovely curves (like a model), perfect size (smaller width), and looks stunning in pictures. I drive a lot off-road and it handles everything perfectly. The engine is insanely strong, I am easily able to spin the tires just by hard throttling straight, and its low(er) suspension provides much support for drifts. It is a car to keep and may have a few problems along the way, but you will be happy with what you get. ;)

Low mileage great truck
I love my pickup and so far it is great. It has just turned over 27,000 miles and is a creampuff. It drives like a car and is a very nice ride. For the first time in years I went out for a ride just to get it on the road. It does not have scratch on it anywhere so how great is that? The seats are comfy and look as though it just came off the line where it was built. I have felt like it was a steal and maybe someone will want it back. I am so lucky to have found something I like so much and hope my luck hangs in there.

Really Great Truck
Bought new 9/01. Owned for nearly 16 years. The Entire package has ben great, including the V6 3.9. Mine is a 4X4 Sport Edition Club Cab. Rated at 1/2 ton but has carried nearly 1 ton several times and didn't even breathe hard. The V6 is adequate for 95 % of the uses I've subjected the truck to. It needs to push a tad on hilly roads like the Berkshires but under most driving has been a dream. Not a jackrabbit but not a slug. Extremely comfortable truck for two with the added extra of the club cab for interior storage when needed.

A surprisingly comfortable and good handling truck
I currently own a 2001 Dakota Club cab 4X4 with the 3.9 V6 and automatic transmission since new. The truck has approximately 70K on the clock after all these years and has been an extremely comfortable and able vehicle. While hauling large loads is not a regular duty, I have recently hauled several in the region of 1800 pounds and except for the rear being somewhat lower riding than normal, I didn't really notice the load. The V6 is adequate for generally flat roads but hills remind you that you "coulda had a V8". On the overall I have no regrets about choosing the engine and see no plans on replacing the vehicle in the foreseeable future.
