The RST “launch trim” of the Chevrolet Silverado EV is no more, but the brand will replace it with the off-road Trail Boss for the 2026 model year. The Trail Boss gets a host of upgrades to make it more capable once the pavement ends and some styling inside and out so it looks cool while doing it. The Work Truck and LT trims will also join the Trail Boss for 2026.

What’s New With the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Trail Boss?

The Trail Boss gets a 2-inch lift and 35-inch all-terrain tires wrapped around 18-inch wheels, along with front tow hooks in red, unique front styling that allows for higher angles of approach, Trail Boss exterior badging and a trim-specific interior.

Chevrolet adds a Trail Boss-specific Terrain mode for low-speed off-road driving, which gives the Trail Boss what Chevy describes as “sharper” four-wheel steering. The Trail Boss also has Sidewinder mode, which debuted on the departing RST and allows for diagonal movement at low speeds.

It’s also available with Super Cruise with Towing hands-free driving and the Multi-Flex Midgate and comes standard with the high-performance WOW mode.

How Much Power and Range Does the 2026 Chevrolet Silverado EV Have?

Both power and range are usually affected by the choice of battery pack, though the Work Truck is a partial exception as it has 510 horsepower regardless of battery, and the Trail Boss has 775 pounds-feet of torque with both of its battery packs. EPA range estimates aren’t yet fully confirmed, but GM says the trims will do between 283 and 493 miles. All 2026 Silverado EVs are equipped with dual-motor four-wheel drive.
