worst car i've owned

i bought a 2005 chevy equinox after trading in my 2004 vw jetta. i was impressed by the exterior of the equinox, but that thrill didnt last long. the ride was terrible and the interior seemed cheap compared to my VW. i only kept the chevy for a year. i was so happy to get rid of it.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!

This 2005 Chevy Equinox LT is, by far, the absolute worst vehicle I've ever owned. I purchased this vehicle in early 2006 and it has been one problem after another. Chevy has been known to make great trucks for years....although they flopped with this one. 1) STARTING TROUBLE - I began experiencing periodic (sometimes often) problems with the vehicle starting after about 2 months. This vehicle was taken back to Chevy on numerous occassions, and they absolutely refuse to acknowledge the problem. They changed out the steering column a couple times, and the problem still persists. I began reading blogs on the vehicle, only to find that it is an all too common problem. I personally encountered two other '05 Equinox owners...same problem...still no acknowledgement from Chevy -- the fix - hit the gas when it hesitates to start - how crazy!!; 2) DASHBOARD BLACKED OUT - The dashboard completely blacked out about 6 months after purchase. Luckily the vehicle was still under factory warranty; 3) BRAKES - I drive an average of 10k miles per year, and I've had to replace the brakes on this vehicle more times than I care to share; 4) SWAY BAR - replaced the darn sway bar twice in my 5 years of ownership; 5) MASTER CYLINDER - master cylinder had to be replaced somewhere around Year #3; 6) MOISTURE IN HEADLIGHT - noticed this a couple months after purchasing. My mechanic attempted to put a seal around the light...it did not help; EGV TUBE/VALVE replaced; LEATHER INTERIOR - the leather seats started cracking after Year #2. KNOBS - the silver paint around the radio knobs, door handles, etc....all peeling. I can go on and on and on....but I'll spare you. By looking at the reviews posted by others....do not buy this vehicle unless you just enjoy spending money and time on constant repairs. My issues were made that much worst by the fact that Chevy refused to acknowledge these persistent problems. BUYER BEWARE!!!

WORST CAR EVER!

The Equinox is nothing but problems. 1. Constant starting issues (dealership cannot figure out the problem). 2. Cheap quality interior. Seats are uncomfortable and stains very easily. The paint on the buttons of my radio chip by the slightest touch. 3. No vents in the back. You have to blast the a/c otherwise your passengers are going to suffer heat exhaustion. 4. Trunk storage bins are ridiculious and take up more room. 5. Headlights have water in it (not sure how moisture even gets in to them). 6. At 70K miles and already need my head gasket replaced and a new a/c compressor. I definitely DO NOT recommend this car to ANYONE.

Lowered expectations

In general an acceptable suv. Brake, radiator, and air condoning repairs within 50k. If you buy one get a warranty.

Nice for sunday drivers

I like my car but there are a few things i dislike about it. 1. is that the interior finish is chiped everywhere and it looks terrible, the vent power selector is completely worn off the silver trim is half black and chiped everywhere, and if you hit a button with your nail on accident it scratchs the paint off quickly removing symbols for radio functions, so hopefully you memorize them, 2. is that in the summer the back seat it dreadfully hot, the only vents come out from under the front seat so it dosnt really cool of back there and my passengers smother to death. 3. the big black antena on the hood. there is a minitena for the onstar, so i dont know why they didnt blend the radio with it. 4. when slowing down to exit a highway or at high speeds, the car violently shakes, even when tires are recently rotated and balanced. if you brake very slowly the car dosnt shake as bad. 5. the sunroof also caved down slightly causing great road noise at high speeds but it dosnt leak. 6. the final complaint is that i used my lights one night while moving to a new house because the electricity wasnt on yet i used the car headlights to see the front door and illuminate the living room and the car was turned off, 10 minutes later the car wouldnt start so i had to get a new battery that didnt die as easy. but despite all the cons i enjoy driving this car in the city, the sound system is great and handling under 45mph is very smooth (hence the review title) we purchased this car in 2005 with almost no miles on it, our LT model has great features such as heated power leather seats and a cd changer, it also has onstar which was helpful when the battery died because they gave me a free jumpstart. also handsfree phone is helpful because obviously you can talk to people and still use both hands for appropriate driving techniques (i.e. using turn signals) all in all i like this car

Solid American Car

I'll start with the cons, because in my 5+ years of owning this vehicle as a commuter car, family truckster, and general al-purpose transporter, I have only a few: 1. The rear headrests on the 2005 are very large. They are not removable either, so you aren't able to switch them out for the newer, smaller ones. I use my mirrors to compensate, so it's not a huge problem. 2. Turning radius is large, which is a pain sometimes when navigating small streets with roundabouts. 3. Cupholders. The front armrest cupholder prohibits the use of the e-brake, which is a nuicance when trying to park. However, there is a single cupholder right below it for use when driving alone, so again, not a huge problem. 4. Cabin noise. Road materials might be the culprit, but this car is noisy. However, when driving on smooth surfaces, it's quiet as anything else I've ever driven. 5. No Auxiliary input. Annoying since everyone owns an MP3 player, and every car seems to have on now (even the newer Equinox's). 6. Surface-mounted external antenna. Seriously, this car is from 2005, not 1965. Technology has advanced. Pros: everything else. No problems with performance, reliability, durability, etc. Love the tan interior and black exterior, the movable back seat, the premium sound, the interior room, etc. I've driven this car in every scenario imaginable, and it's been wonderful.

Worst Car I've Ever Owned

I would never buy another Chevy Equinox. In fact, they cannot even convience me to look at another one even though they have stated that the new ones are really nice...not intested. My car is in the shop at least every 6 months for something major. I have put on multiple sets of breaks and I am on the second pair of tires that I had to purchase. The turning radious is horrible. The backseat is unbarably hot during the summer...no vents. All in all, I hate this car.

To work and back no problems

I love this vehicle - runs smooth, good on gas and not a gigantic suv but still high enough off the road that I like when I drive. I have driven 30,000 miles on the one I have with zero issues.. enjoy
