Built like an absolute tank
Got this car from my father for $100 after it sat for 5 years. It got beaten on very badly during its life (ex going 30k without an oil change once) and was all smashed up and wrecked. After those 5 years of sitting, I changed all the fluids, put a new battery and spark plugs in and the car cranked right up. I put the body back together with parts from the scrapyard and it's running great with 237,000 miles. The only complaint I really have is that it isn't great with going up hills because I guess the transmission is more geared to fuel economy.

Great car for first time driver
The Cavalier is a great car for the price. The only option I miss is cruise control. The AC cools there car quickly in 90° heat. The trans shifts smoothly.

You can't go wrong with a Cavalier
Best car ever. Great on gas, hardly uses oil. Very reliable and you will look good driving it. It will become your best friend. The seats are comfortable for long distant drives or just cruising around town. My only dislike, I wish the seat went back one click more.

Best in Class!
Owned 4 Cavaliers: 1996, 1999, 2001, 2002. The first 3 I put over 185,000 miles on them, the 2002 I drove 304,000+ miles, was making 31mpg and until my "ex" drove it hot with a hole in the radiator, was going GREAT!

Very Reliable Car
I agree with Chuck from Richmond. I bought my 2002 Cavalier in 2012 with 110,000 miles on it. She now has 175,000 and runs like a top. Never put a nickel in her other than a starter, brakes and tires. She always started for me whether it was -15 or a 100 degrees outside. The car is excellent in the snow and the interior holds up really well. I still get 30 mpg. She may be rusty, but she is reliable. I've had 24 cars in my lifetime. And of all the used cars I've had, this Cavalier has been the most reliable.

Best small car ever made.
I bought this car new, gave it to my son so he could use it for high school and college, and now 1 year after he graduated college, I have it back again. No repairs other than maintenance. Very impressive considering it was GMs old technology 2.2 pushrod engine. Mine has the 5 speed manual transmission and is the base model. Only things that need fixed are the front of the dash and bezel around the instrument panel which have cracked.

Best car for cruising!
A great place to by a new or used car is Gerry Wood Auto Group in Salisbury NC. They offer excellent customer service and go above and beyond to make sure the car you want is the car you drive away with!! The best sales person to talk to about your car buying needs is Jimmy Yelland! A HUGE thank you to the team at Gerry Wood Auto Group. I appreciate your assistance! I love my 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier! It has a spacious interior for a smaller car. This car has great gas mileage. The interior seating is soft and comfortable to sit on. This is definitely a car to go cruising around in! I think I made an excellent choice when I chose this car!
