Worst car we have owned. Engine blew at 120,000 mi

This car is uncomfortable & has cheap interior. Thought it was a good deal for the money, but not when the engine blows after 120,000 and all regular maintenance. The engine suddenly burned up the oil in the engine...no indicators, lights, warning.

Worst car ever owned.

Due to low oil pressure at idle, engine doesn’t lube the timing chain properly which leads to early failure and a false P420 code due to engine running rich. PCV is an orifice (unless you have a model that has a PCV valve) under the intake manifold that gets clogged with carbon and can freeze up in the winter. This can led to rear main seal failure! With these two major issues possible, do not get this junk engine from GM.

Most reliable vehicle I've ever owned; (I'm 75.5 )

This vehicle meets all of our current needs and at 136,000+ miles has been extremely reliable! Love it! Use it for long trips as well as local in town. Currently on third set of tires.

Never buying a chevy again

After 5 years of owning the chevy captiva, I took it in for a radiator repair and found that the timing belt had come off of its placement and destroyed the whole engine. This repair would have cost me close to $7000. the car only had 150,000 miles on it. I expected some typical engine repairs such as radiator, transmission, belts, etc. But a full engine replacement after 5 years? Hard pass. Terrible value for the money. Will not purchase a chevy, or anything GM for that matter, ever again

Absolutely the best car I’ve owned.

I’ve wanted a small SUV for a long time. Test drove one and fell in love with it. Couldn’t afford the one I wanted so looked around and found the Chevy Captiva Sport. Has all the bells and whistles I wanted. Test drove it and drove it home!!

Great little suv

This is a great vehicle. Runs and drives fantastic. Only reason that I am getting rid of this is because I want to go back to my muscle car roots, and my wife has a vehicle to use a family car now.

Great car for us..wish we could get a new one.

Good size and comfortable. We usually sit higher in pickup but this is better than a sedan. Leg room and easy to drive and park.

Don't purchase one of these.....

This Captiva is the worse vehicle on the road. I say this because you MUST put 5 Qts of oil in every 1000 miles. I guess I am lucky that my motor made it to 103000 miles before the motor went. Most I've read didn't make it to 100k miles. Have fun if you have purchased one.

Excellent car for the money

I enjoy this car, it gets great gas mileage. It is on the smaller SUV side, but it is nice to park, drive, it has always been reliable.

My Captiva has done well over all.

This car sucks for winter! Traction control sucks. Need a complete set of snow tires. ABS is absolutely annoying! Bought mine from Texas, but live in Minnesota. Good gas mileage. Just not good car for northern winters!
