Nice to look at, underwhelming and too complicated

This car looks the part, handsome, potent sounding, but less than satisfying to drive. Exhaust sounds get annoying after a while. Seats are handsome in red quilted leather, but will give you a back ache after a few hours. Chassis is stiff and you feel every bump. Worst feature is its complicated infotainment system that tends to force your eyes off the road. You need to constantly refer to the owner's manual to use the features on the car. This is not a driver's car.

Sporty and beautiful car to drive.

I love this car. its very reliable (8500 miles) and with good performance but not a "boy racer" like my M3 was. 4.3 sec 0-60 is fast enough! Very high torque at low rpm. Almost impossible to loose control when driving aggressive. Interior is simply the best and virtual gauges are incredible. I had to black out front grille and carbonate side mirrors and spoiler to make it improve its look. I wish that Audi would redesign its front grilles to something less busy and shiny. After 1-st winter I changed to all-season Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ tires, one size larger (2565/35) and that's ok on the snow. New C8 Corvette will have all-season Michelin tires as std factory equipment. Fantastic! Car can be transformed to a "beast" with Dynamic or Sport mode but it could have louder exhaust then. To disconnect the engine stop-start mode you can either turn that off, switch gear lever to Sport mode, drive on Dynamic or disconnect stability control. Fastest way is when you see that the red light is ending soon, or crawling in a stop & go traffic, just switch to Sport and car won't die. Also on the Sport mode engine is slowing car when coasting (not as much as on manual trans), so less braking is required. Doesn't burn any oil! I wish S5 would be available with manual transmission.

Best and worst car I’ve ever owned

Fantastic to drive, very comfy and fast and good on a long run but full of problems everything from electrical to a new gearbox. Car has had 13 trips to the dealer In 20 months since I bought it new . The car is fantastic other than reliability problems that go on and on

Beautiful, powerful, sporty and elegant automobile

I greatly appreciate the car's exciting performance, lovely lines, extremely comfortable and roomy interior andgreat technology interfaces. The coupe design is both practical and attractive. I just wish it was more miserly with fuel consumption.

Great car!

I have really enjoyed the 2018 S5 Sportback. Great car with comfort, power, safety features, and cutting edge technology. This is overall the most competent car I’ve ever owned. Have over 17k on it right now. No problems at all and the only slight complaint I have is the fact I’ll have to replace the tires soon. I’ll just change from the Continental tires with no mileage warranty to Michelin tires with a 30k warranty. Hey, but what do you expect with a car that will run high 12’s from the factory. Would definitely recommend.

It drives even better than it looks.

How can you describe a car that can do zero to sixty in 4.4 seconds yet achieve 35 MPG at 70 mph, and do this in absolute luxury? Let’s include a 19-speaker Bang and Olufsen sound system to crank out your tunes at any sound level. Want to find anything at the touch of a finger? Then get the Audi Connect feature and the world around you is at the command of your voice and the touch of you finger. This gorgeous Audi is far ahead of its time. Are you?

VERY BAD TRANSMISSION

Nice car inside out, powerful engine, nice handling, the transmission trashed the car and all the good work. Be aware the transmission performance deteriorates with time, feels like a torque converter slip, lag in shifts, and unnecessary upshift, slow shifter as well. Navigation lacks street names - stereo keeps going to default settings - gas mileage not close to promised due to transmission - excessive brakes dust - voice command was better in the 2017 s5 - rear cupholder useless- transmission can be reset and then few weeks later gradually same issue. Anyone that reviewed the car drove it like a race car where its hard to notice - car drives awful on a stop and go especially when the auto engine shutoff keeps turning the motor off and then you have 3k RPM takeoff to keep up with a minivan, driving normal is very frustrating - Very SAD

Great road car and fun to drive

Beautifully styled. Solid build with plenty of technology and amenities. But, the bottom line is that this car is fun to drive, safe and confidence inspiring. Happy, happy, happy!
