A 35 yr old woman's viiew

After owning a small compact car, a mid-size sedan, and finally a small SUV (all practical, fuel-efficient models), I decided to change it up a bit. My friend in California has an Audi and I was amazed at the features on it. I still was a little practical and bought a CPO A4, without most of the bells and whistles most Audi's have, but I have not been disappointed. I am not a car person, per se, but this car is making me one! The number one thing I love about it is the performance. The acceleration and braking are far superior than any of my "practical" cars. It makes me want to drive faster than I normally would and it's so smooth, you might need to watch your speed. It's been refreshing to go around a curve and not worry if my car is going to turn over! And the crash ratings are high, so that was a plus. I used to work in traffic safety, so I am not a crazy driver, but the handling is fun to test. The interior is spacious--especially the back seat--which was more cramped on the earlier models. The trunk is huge. The stereo system is excellent, except I would suggest adding a way to plug in an ipod (maybe it's just my model that doesn't have that option). I really enjoy the internal heating/cooling system. You can set it to auto and it keeps the car cool or warm without having to adjust. That is probably standard for higher end cars, but the first car I have had where I wasn't adjusting all the time. I hate when cup holders are marketed to women, but I have to admit, the cup holders are lacking. The main one is fine--fits all sizes, but the second one fits only a can. You can also put bottles in the side door pockets. Not a big deal when I am alone, but not great with other people in the car. No complaints otherwise. I look forward to driving in this car.

1st year of any model, expect issues

I have the A4 2.0T Premium Plus. I have 14k miles at the time of writing this review. It is a beautiful car inside and out. It is the fastest (0-60) car in its class by .2 sec. Handling is quite good, but not quite as good as the 3 series (same year). Shifting is a little slow in auto-sport, reasonable in manual-auto. The auto-sport mode does a pretty decent job in down-shifting and keeping the engine in the power curve. Very similar to the Mercedes C300, better than the BMW 328. I drove them all, and thought this one was the best overall, and less expensive to boot. I have to admit I like how everyone looks at the LED driving lights - it looks like an exotic sports car. You can't beat the level of grip, regardless of road condition. Now the ugly. Twice I experienced a transmission malfunction, which cleared when I turned the car off and then back on. I've already had to replace the fuel pump (under warranty). The engine is starting to idle a little rough. This is NOT a long trip car. The ride is decent, but I can not get the seat to not give me back and neck issues. I had the same problem in the BMW. Haven't taken a long trip in the MB. My mom has a '10 IS250 that is much more comfortable - fun to drive, albeit with a little less power than the other 3 I've mentioned. If I had to do it all again, I'd probably get the "inferior" IS250. I think what you gain in comfort and reliability outweighs any loses in performance. You don't need more.

A4 - 6 cylinders

This is an awesome beast. Power-to-spare, quiet ride, fun to drive. The fuel efficiency is not great but not bad considering it's a performance car... in mind. The metal work was and is flawless. It doesn't have people-stopping beauty but it is elegant in every other way. It's really roomy inside and a pleasure to drive on a quick jaunt from Sacramento to SanDiego.

Horrible Car!!

I have been driving this car for the past year and 3 months, and I must say this is the worst car I've driven. My car barely has 11,000 miles and I've had transmission problems galore. The dealer had to replace my transmission filter, 1 month later my entire transmission and now my car keeps stalling...This car is a lemon, stay away!!

Good looking ..... and Boring

The car is great looking but only with my ibis white and good for commuting use. The ride is not as comfy as others and not to mention its handling. I would not recommend this to anyone want also driving fun. It is just boring good car packaged with a discount price.

Great Car.

My mom traded in her 2007 BMW 530i for a 2009 Audi A4 2.0T Quattro and we love it! We saved $7,000 of sticker price by negotiating too.. It seemed to have more standard features than our $57,000 BMW (We have had BMW's for 12 Years) like 60/40 split folding rear seats, satellite radio, AWD, etc. The only problem we had was that our car had dents in it from the dealership being under construction but they didn't tell us... but they payed for it. And the rubber around the front windshield is changing colors from black to white. But it should be covered by the warranty.

2009 Audi A4 Avant

Great car especially for long distance crusing. Very comfortable and at legal speeds gas mileage exceeds EPA estimates [Avant only comes with 211 hp 4 turbo]. At 75 mph on cruise I got 32 mpg and on a long trip 3000+ miles, 31 mpg. Quattro is very good in snow although it has limited clearance for deep snow and poorly surfaced gravel roads. MMI takes a little getting used to and is distracting to use while driving. Premium Plus package is worth it, Prestige is $4000 more. Minor damage is very expensive to fix. I had 5 mph damage to the front end and it was over $3000 to replace cosmetic parts on the front end. Even with than I love the car and would recommend it if you need a wagon with AWD.

Hesitates when accelerating from stop

This is a great car except for one major flaw. If you mash the accelerator from a dead stop it takes about one second for the car to start moving. This can be critical when making a left turn in front of approaching traffic. The dealer said this is a common complaint and cannot be corrected and relates to the Tiptronic transmission. They said it simply takes getting used to. Aside from this, its a wonderful vehicle except the cup holders are too small.

2009 A4 delivers luxury, comfort, and fun

This is my first Audi automobile. The A4 is beautiful and gets lots of second looks. The new design is a bit more aggressive compared to the 2008 model. I would suggest the Premium Plus package. It is well worth the extra $4,000 with the xenon lights, heated seats, seat and mirror memory, rain-sensing wipers, dual climate zones, blue tooth, Ipod integration, home link, and self-dimming mirrors with compass. My A4 is black with beige interior. I got the ash wood, which is a nice touch. It makes the interior feel luxurious and stylish. I am a detail person, and Audi pays attention to the little things. The finishing touches are clean and high quality. I have read some reveiwers criticize the MMI system. This is where the heated seats, radio, climate, blue tooth, and other cabin settings are controlled. It was a little cumbersome at first, but has since become easy to navigate an control. The blue tooth is super. I do a lot of driving, and the A4 blue tooth allows you to make, receive, and browse your phone book without ever taking your hands off of the steering wheel. The all-wheel drive Quattro option is a must. This handles like a dream on the snow and ice. A very safe vehicle when the weather gets hazardous.
