Excellent car and great service

After decision to purchase, I said (not to L Bullock) I did not want to pay for extra warranties, but had to sit through long explanation.

Triad Area director for Priority One Foundation

Excellent experience! William did a great job of helping us with our purchase. He is very personable, knowledgeable and is easy to work with. I also met Carlos, and he was very friendly and I enjoyed talking with him. Richard the sales manager was great! Richard in finance was also very easy to work with and friendly. I highly recommend this car dealer to anyone looking for a vehicle.

New car purchase

Short staff on a Sunday made for a long wait for sales and purchase of car. 5 hours later was able to leave after closing time. Latosha was able to take me for a test drive and showed me multiple vehicles.

Buyer Beware!

Rice Toyota sold a certified pre-owned car that did not meet the criteria. Someone had put aftermarket brake pads on the car, and did not replace the rotors when they did this. When it was discovered by Rice Toyota, and the car was still under warranty, they offered to replace the rotors and pads at no cost. This is because it should not have been sold as a certified pre-owned car in that condition, and it was still under warranty. However, they did not actually do the work they said they would do. The service advisor, Chase, did not document in my file that they were doing a warranty repair. So, it is my word against his, and Rice Toyota seems to be implying that I am not telling the truth. This is the fourth car I have purchased from Rice Toyota. They have lost a very loyal customer. Buyer beware. If is says certified pre-owned do not trust them. If they are doing a repair get everything in writing! Ask for all documentation of the certification.

Oil change and tire light diagnosis

Compared to other locations I have dealt with, I am consistently disappointed in the customer service here. It is closest to me; however it’s worth the drive for me to go to High Point just to not have to deal with the attitude of many (certainly not all) staff. Some are great, but you never know who you’re going to get and it’s not worth the risk for the price you are paying.

Amazing service and people!

Everyone is hesitant about going to a car dealership and the unfortunate first thought is that you are going to get ripped off. This is NOT the case with Rice Toyota. I have nothing but EXTREMELY positive things to say about the people there and the way I was treated. All of my nerves were alleviated as soon as I met and spoke with Kristin Tenney ( 04/2018) and Jeff Thomas and Richard Robinson ( 04/2019). I had 2 separate but very stressful problems and on top of this my 2013 Toyota Corolla wasn't even purchased from Rice. ( I wish it had been looking back). They treated me like I had been a loyal customer for years and it didnt matter to them where or when I got my car they just simply wanted to help me the best way they could. The process of service was one of the most fluid, informative, and simple ones I have ever experienced. These people at Rice really truly care about their customers and I cannot thank them enough for everything they did for me. I WILL buy my next car from them and that's a promise!

Terrible disapointment

I would NEVER let this dealership touch my vehicle. Our son, who is a 21 year old college student, broke down in our Toyota Tacoma while traveling through Greensboro, NC (5 hours from our hometown). We called a tow truck to take him to the closest Toyota dealership. On a phone call with their front office staff, we were told to "not worry about it, they would take care of our son". We requested a rental car for him to drive until the next day, when they could look over our truck to see what it needed. After many calls to our son and to the dealership we were told that he would have to pay $15 extra, per day, since he wasn't 25 years old, but they had him a car to drive. That was fine, we just wanted him to be safe and able to get to his friends home, where he was headed originally . Apparently, many conversations took place after we got off the phone among the staff. Ultimately they Ubered our son to his friends house, did not rent him the car they had promised, that we were willing to pay for, and told him to come back in the morning--without a vehicle to drive! He called home to inform us what happened and the dealership was already closed, so we had no choice but to wait til morning. My husband called in the morning to learn the GM had declined the car rental because our son wasn't 25. Claimed it was the "company's policy". He didn't want to talk about why we were told there would be an extra charge of $15 per day due to his age, like we were told the day before. So, we had to hire another tow truck to pick the vehicle up and take it to the next closest dealership in Winston-Salem, NC. When the tow truck driver arrived, the dealership refused to turn over our vehicle to him. They claimed that they weren't sure if it really belonged to us! Then they said we owed almost $100 for an "assessment". We told them early in this process not to touch our vehicle and that we would be taking it elsewhere since they lied about "taking care of our son" and then sent him out into a town he wasn't familiar with via Uber!!! Without even informing us first. The dealership had taken our vehicle in and ran a test to see what it would need. $2500 worth of work! Ultimately, after being spoken to rudely from the GM, we paid the fee and they released our truck. We took it to Modern Toyota in Winston Salem and they were terrific! I can not believe they ubered my son off their property, 5 hours away from home, and expected to fix our vehicle the next day!

Dealer response

We apologize that the Toyota Rent A Car policies prohibit rentals to persons under 25 years old. We know that was a major inconvenience for you. The UBER for Business service that we use for all our service customers was our best option to get your son to his friend's home. We did review the damage to your son's Tacoma with him, walking him into the shop and showing the drive shaft was broken. The damage is something we see most frequently in off road driving. The part we needed to repair the Tacoma would not be in until the next day. There is a charge associated with all our services, we apologize for any miscommunication on our part that led anyone to believe our services are complimentary.

Prices for service way up

With the remodel of the dealership the prices have gone way up along with wait times for service.Normally I make an appointment, but I had an emergency because the battery I bought from Rice was dying. This is the 2nd battery under warranty that has died.took a long time to be waited on and then they wanted to charge me more for a battery under warranty than I paid for the original battery. Then they gave me a coupon for the cheapest car wash at Battleground Water works. Sorry Garson keep your car wash and expensive repairs I'll go elsewhere.

Completely dropped the ball

My husband and I have been customers of Rice going on almost a year and I truly have had no issues with the service until today. I arrived at Rice at 8:30 am thinking I would beat the crowd and have my truck and car both serviced and have them for work Monday. My car was in and out and my truck had to be left behind because there was a recall on the passenger airbag. This was fine because I was told it would be ready in 2 to 2 and half hours. I received a call from my technician that our brakes were worn and if we wanted to have them fixed. I initially declined the service but after talking to my husband we decided to go ahead and get it done. I called back, spoke to someone in the service department and told them that I would like to have both the rear and front brakes replaced. I was informed that they would fix the brakes and give me a call when they were done. So I receive a call around 3, he told me my truck was ready and the price for the inspection but failed to mention anything about my brakes. So I asked my tech how much it would be for the brakes and he was confused and said to his knowledge nothing was done to my brakes. I informed him of my call and he said he wasn't told about the brakes. So my truck sat up at Rice Toyota from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm when they called and all they had to do was my inspection and handle the air bag recall. I now have to car pool with my husband, we get off at different times and do not work anywhere near each other. I had rave reviews for Rice until today, I just hate that this is the only Toyota dealership in Greensboro and if I could give them 0 stars then I certainly would.

Dealer response

Demetris, I am so sorry there must have been a miscommunication on our end. After you posted your Google review (identical the the one above) our team relayed the message to me that you had been contacted right away and we had remedied the situation and made things right for you. This review makes me believe otherwise. I have requested our service manager call you right away this morning and he has assured me he has contacted you. Please call us if this issue is not resolved to your satisfaction, we have repeatedly tried to reach you. Sincerely, Mary Rice

Toyota Tundra

Very easy to do business with. Justin, our salesman, was helpful and never pushy. The Tundra kind of sold itself but the buying experience was made easy by the sales team at Rice's.
