Do NOT buy a car from J and G!!!

If I could rate this a 0 ( or negative) I would. Giving a 1 seems like an inflated lie. Do NOT even consider buying a car from them. They are dishonest and pretty up cars just enough to get them off the lot. LOOKS ARE DECEIVING! I have no idea how they get cars to pass inspection. Do not drive a car off this lot. And if reading this review and the others (wish I had!!!) isn’t enough, before considering take it to an independent mechanic (NOT theirs across the street who they obvious are in cahoots with) for thorough inspection! Making sure they do a check engine light review bc they just turn that off so it’s not on when you buy it! Do yourself a favor and drive by this lot… well unless you want to sell them your own mechanically faulty car- then these are your guys- and for that they’d get a 5 star review.

Run don't look!

J&G is the former River Street Auto Sales. Don't let the fake reviews of dozens trick you as there are many who have lost thousands to this Business and Mass courts and Attorney General take it easy on them. If you did purchase and got a lemon, file complaint at the minimum with the attorney general's office. Don't let the carfax advertisement trick you either!

Sale person okay -i can't get financing

Dealer response

Hello I'm quite confused as to what you are trying to say or what's going on. We sold over 500 cars last year and a lot of them were financed. If you got denied then there is a reason for it wether it be poor credit or lack of credit history. That is not controlled by us, $2000 down is a very fair down payment in my opinion but if the bank denies it then there's nothing we can do. We apologize. Sincerely, J and G auto Sales management

Dealer response

Hello, we provide a warranty to where if the vehicle does not pass inspection for any reason we repair the car no charge. This is disclosed to all customers before purchasing a vehicle. When we received the title we gave you the option to come pick it up which is what almost all of our customers do, you requested we mail it so we did. Fed-ex lost the package, we are not fed ex, there for that is not our fault. We provided you with all the tracking information and we have already contacted the rmv and previous owner to try and get a new one, we have already told you that. Up until 2007 it was Dufour motors then it became river street auto until 2019. from 2019 to 2021 it was closed at the end of 2021 it switched over to J and G Auto Sales with entirely new management. The previous owner owns the lot but does not have anything to do with the business anymore. last year we sold almost 500 cars, the old saying is true "as hard as you try you'll never be able to please everyone". We are terribly sorry for all the inconveniences we supposedly caused you. Have a nice day, J and G Auto Sales Management

Dealer response

We are very sorry to hear that, our cars come from an auction so not all are perfect. But once a customer is serious about a car and leaves a deposit, we make the vehicle a top priority. The car and a list of concerns get sent out to a licensed repair facility. Once the car has been returned we allow the customer to retest drive the vehicle. If He/She is still unhappy with the vehicle all deposits will be refunded. Sincerely, J and G AutoSales Management

Consumer response

Thank you for your response. I’m still interested in the vehicle. My biggest concern is the water leak from the head board and the rear tires being the wrong size and from 2015. If the rear tires have been on there since 2015 the entire drive train could have issues. Please keep me updated as to what repairs are done to the vehicle. I did make Chris an offer to buy the vehicle ‘as is’ - please let me know if there any negotiating we can do. Thank you!

Dealer response

No worries. We have fixed all the issues on the vehicle, but unfortunately it has been sold already. In regards to the offer you made to Chris, we do not make those types of deals here. The book value of the vehicle is $18,175, we had it listed for $16,995. So I'm sorry but it would not make senses for us to let it go for just $9,000. We buy them, fix them up to get them ready for inceptions, so we are already putting in a decent amount of money. Yes at the time it was not up to par but we have cars coming in and out consitantly we didn't have a chance to get too that one yet. If you left a deposit it would've became a top priority and we would've had it ready as fast as possible. Our goal is to try to make them affordable for the public. Im truly sorry for all the inconveniences, we do appreciate you doing business with us. If there is anything we can do for you do not hesitate to reach out, we have plenty of cars on the lot at affordable prices. So if ever you wanna come down and take a look Chris will be there and you are more than welcome too. Thank you, J and G AutoSales Management

This dealership sells unsafe cars

I purchased a 2006 Lexus GX470 from J&G Auto sales in Fitchburg MA on 10/21/22. The car needed an undisclosed “part” to clear a check engine light, tire pressure light was on, overdue for an oil change, and the motor for the automatic windows was broken. I told them to please fix those things before I picked up the vehicle. The salesman Steve told me that if the car failed inspection they had to take it back. It took them over a week and a half to fix it during which time my calls for updates would go unreturned to the point where I had to drive to the dealership 3 times to ask for in-person updates, this is where I was introduced to the owner “T”. Finally I was able to pick up the car 11/6, the tire pressure light was still on so I decided to purchase new tires for safety and so the car would pass inspection. My tires arrived 11/22/22 and I made an appointment at my dealer of choice for 12/1 to have the car inspected and the tires mounted. On 12/1, my dealer notified me the car would not pass inspection due to frame rot (which was not disclosed to me during the purchase process) and also the brakes would not pass inspection and the vehicle needed an additional $1,400 worth of work to have the tires safely mounted. I called J&G and spoke to Steve and informed him the car failed inspection. I told him I just wanted to return the car to them and be refunded the money I paid them. He said again that if the car failed inspection they had to take it back. I drive there 12/1 and handed Steve the inspection report which stated the car failed inspection and he took my info down and said the owner would call me first thing in the morning. The dealer opens at 9Am, I began calling at 10am as I remembered they never returned my calls earlier in the purchasing process. I called a total of 4 times and spoke to Steve who told me the owner was “busy in the lot and would call me soon”. the 4th time calling, I asked Steve to go get the owner as I am a customer and I’m just looking to speak to him and get it settled. I reiterated I will drop the car off Saturday 12/3 in exchange for my money back and I’ll be done. Steve put me on hold for 20 minutes, while on hold I heard Steve talking to a man whose voice I recognized as T the owner. Steve called me an “xxxxxxx” and T told Steve to not tell me that T was the owner, to which Steve replied that he thought I already knew T was the owner, which I did. I called back and demanded that Steve give me the owner’s direct number, which he finally did. I called that person, who ended up being T, and he said that he was not the owner and he would return my call. I again said I just want to return the car to them 12/3 and have my money returned, and if they did not honor that I would call the Attorney General and Better Business Bureau. I asked for a call back by 5PM which did not happen . On 12/3 I drove to the dealership to talk in person. T was there, I entered the dealership while there were 2 other customers in there and stated that I would like to talk about getting my money back for the Lexus since my phone calls are not returned. T became upset and told me that “I was going to give you the refund, but if you make things difficult for me I will make things difficult for you. Please leave the building and leave the lot” I did so, and called Fitchburg Police and asked an officer come down to mediate a conversation between T and I.An officer came down and spoke to T and I in the dealer. T changed his story numerous times, again he called himself the owner but then said he also has a business partner he needs to call. T also said he would call his lawyer Monday but when pressed for a timeframe by the Officer, T would not guarantee that he would call his lawyer Monday. I again reiterated that if he gave me a check for the money I paid, I would pay out of my own pocket to have the car towed back to J&G that same day and I would not proceed any further.

THIS PLACE IS A NIGHTMARE

Went there today to look at a Car they had for sale for 7,000. No service from a salesman upon arrival after standing around the car for a bit which is fine whatever, went to ask the salesman for the key to test drive the car to which he gave to us after making us almost feel as though we were burdening him for being interested in the car he was selling. Go to start the car it won’t start. Report back to the salesman who said the battery was dead but he could jump the battery with his power pack. Goes to use the power pack said it won’t work and it needs a jump from a car but the mechanic came over to let us know that the salesman wasn’t using the power pack correctly and easily jump started the car. Now, the car was nice we liked it despite all the red flags coming from the dealership. We go back the salesman and offer him 6k cash on site for the car (listed at 7) to which he said that offer was ridiculous and he wouldn’t even call his boss on it. We were a bit puzzled at first and insisted to allow us to speak with his boss to present the deal to which of course he would not give us the number. Finally, we decided to leave very confused and disappointed he assured us he would leave our phone number and offer with his boss when he gets to chance. Needless to say I haven’t gotten a call but not to worry I got a car down the street from someone else an hour later. THIS PLACE IS A NIGHTMARE
