If I could give this dealer minus 5 stars I would.

If I could give this dealer minus 5 stars I would. I was trying to find a car for my teenage son this last weekend. As part of the transaction I was planning to trade in a car. After the usual hours and hours of waiting (these kinds of old school dealers use the same kind of tactics used to interrogate prisoners), they came back and said my car was only worth $3-4k but out of the generosity of their heart they were willing to pay $8k. Having done my research ahead of time I knew perfectly well that my car was worth $9600 (and had a deal with a different garage for that amount later the same day). I left knowing I was never going to find a good deal here. The entire business model rests on the dealer pulling the wool over the eyes of the customer. The flaw in this entire process is that now everyone coming through the door has a supercomputer in the their pocket (their iPhone and chat gpt). They can get good estimates for what cars cost, what a good and bad deal looks like, even what these dealers are paying for cars at auction. It’s just a shame that no one appears to have told this dealership or the management. As usual in these places there were employees everywhere, all needing paying, so all presumably fuelling the process of gouging customers as much of possible and high giving each other behind the scenes. This business model is dying, and the way this dealer dealt with me was an absolute disgrace. They have lost a customer and created an active advocate to persuade people never to step foot in this place.

Dealer response

Thank you for sharing your experience with us, and we’re truly sorry to hear that it left you feeling this way. We apologize for your disappointment regarding the trade-in value offered. Our team uses well-known third-party resources such as Kelley Blue Book, Carfax, and NADA to guide our evaluations. In many cases, our offers are above those guides, and our intention in sharing those values with you was simply to be transparent about how the figures were determined—not to undervalue your vehicle. We also want to sincerely apologize if you felt your time wasn't respected during your visit. While we aim to make every customer experience as efficient as possible, it’s clear we fell short of your expectations, and we take that seriously. We understand that today’s car buyers are more informed than ever, and we support that. We welcome customers who come prepared with research and encourage open, honest conversations about pricing and value. It’s unfortunate that we weren’t able to earn your business, but we do appreciate the feedback and will use it to continue improving how we serve our customers. Best regards, Jimmy

My husband and I were very impressed with the Acton

My husband and I were very impressed with the Acton Toyota dealership. We were welcomed kindly as we came in through the front door, and were quickly joined with the salesperson I asked for.

We’ve purchased or leased several cars from Acton Toyota

We’ve purchased or leased several cars from Acton Toyota over the past 30 years. The experience has been uniformly good to excellent In January 2025, we purchased a 2025 Sienna Hybrid and the salesperson was Ron Hall. This car model is not that widely available just yet, so Ron guided us through the process of making sure that when one arrived on the lot, it would be held for us. After that, the completion of the paperwork for the sale went smoothly and without delay, and the credit for that belongs to Ron. He also gave us a “tour” through the car’s features, some of which were very new to us. In retrospect, that tour could have been a bit more thorough, but there’s so much to new models these days, there is no end to what we could have been shown. Ron was attentive and helpful throughout the sale process and always ready to meet or talk with us whenever the need arose. We are grateful to Ron for a stress-free purchase experience, and we love the new car!

This dealership has gone down the drain since it changed

This dealership has gone down the drain since it changed ownership. they used to have a fantastic service department. a nice cafeteria for when you waited. very personalized service, and were not pushy with the selling of unnecessary add ons. now they are just awful. it used to be that i came here because of the quality treatment and service. now they are just another over the top pushy dealer with no true value add that makes you want to come back.

Wife and I decided to purchase a certified used car

Wife and I decided to purchase a certified used car though Acton Toyota and pay a couple thousand more than buying thru a private party because we thought it made more sense being that their supposed to go through the entire vehicle to make sure it’s a great car. Unfortunately, a few days after we bought it we took it to the car wash and immediately after being washed you could see about 30 plus chip marks on the front end. Another words, it’s as if they took a magic marker and filled in all the chip marks so that the paint looked in perfect condition. Then, about 3 days after we bought it the brakes started squealing so we took it by our usual mechanic and he said they installed the cheapest brake pads on the market and also the rotors needed replacing. Then a couple days after that the radio stopped working. We brought this to their attention and they had us bring it in for their mechanics to look at and of course they came uo with some song & dance that the 5 year extended warranty we paid thousands extra for didn’t cover any of the issues. Also, the tires are the cheapest junkiest tires you can buy so it’s absolutely horrible in the snow even though it’s an all wheel drive. In fact, our compact 2 wheel drive Chevy Sonic is ten times better in the snow. We actually won’t even drive it in the snow because it’s so bad because of the horrific tires they put on it. Needles to say, we will never buy a vehicle from them EVER AGAIN!! In fact we’re trying to warn everyone not to buy from them. They completely lied to us and especially about thev 5 year extended warranty thats absolutely useless. We’re absolutely furious with them. We paid thousands more with the expectation that it would be a better car, especially since its a a“certified” pre owned vehicle. Once they sell you the car they could care less about helping you and instead they give you the run around and absurd excuses as to why their not responsible for anything after the sell. I gave them one star but they don’t even come close to deserving even a one star. Please please please don’t ever buy a vehicle through Acton Toyota. It’s been the worst car buying experience I’ve had in over 30 years. Their just nothing but liars.

Paid a couple thousand more to buy a “certified” used car

Paid a couple thousand more to buy a “certified” used car from a new car dealer instead of a private party because their supposed to go through very vigorous testing and any repairs or replacements taken care of. Unfortunately a few days after purchasing we took it through the car wash and afterwards we noticed about 25 or so small chips on the front end. So it’s as if they took a magic marker and filled in all the chips so the paint would look perfect when we bought it. Also, after the second day the brakes started squealing so we took it by our usual mechanic to take a Quick Look. He said that not only did they install the cheapest brake pads you can buy but the rotors needed replacing. Then the next day the radio stopped working. Also, it’s absolutely horrible in the snow even though it’s an all wheel drive. Turns out they installed the absolute cheapest tires you can buy on it, in fact, most tires dealers refuse to sell those tires because they’re not only a brand we’ve never heard of but there absolutely the worst. Had to actually pick up my wife from work with our 2 wheel drive compact car when it only snowed and inch because it was so bad in the snow. Also the remote starter is broke. If you try using it the horn stats going off and won’t stop for about 15 minutes. Again, this isn’t just any used car, it’s a “certified “ pre owned vehicle with low miles. By the way, we paid thousands extra for the 5 year extended warranty that they said covered everything but of course they’re now telling us basically nothing is actually covered. So we’re contacting the attorney generals office along with other agencies. Please please please DO NOT purchase a vehicle from Acton Toyota. They do nothing but bold face lie to you and their certified pre owned vehicles are absolute junk!! Thank you 😊

Consumers beware of the mandatory $180 vehicle inspection

Consumers beware of the mandatory $180 vehicle inspection fee on Toyota Certified Used Vechicles, even though you have a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty. The engine light on my wife's car came on after she drove only 3,000 miles. We made an appointment to findout what was wrong with our new Certified Used Car only to find out there was nothing wrong with our car. Needless to say we were unexpectantly surprised when we had to pay $195.40 for the vehicle inspection. If you have problems with Acton service, don't ask for Ernest Co, Service Director, call the Attorney General's office at 617-727-8400 and speak with the Consumer Advocacy and Response Division for a faster response.
