Local dealership with friendly and helpful staff and good customer service. I’ve been a Brown Honda customer for 30+ years. Faces have changed over that time, but everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. It was a pleasure to work with Derrick Mosley to buy my 2025 CRV Hybrid Sport.

Local dealership with friendly and helpful staff and good customer service. I’ve been a Brown Honda customer for 30+ years. Faces have changed over that time, but everyone is knowledgeable and helpful. It was a pleasure to work with Derrick Mosley to buy my 2025 CRV Hybrid Sport.

Our salesman, Johnny Grimmett is the Costco Auto Program
Our salesman, Johnny Grimmett is the Costco Auto Program contact for Brown. He had a car ready to show us. We liked it, and asked him for pricing. He produced a cost sheet on Costco letterhead showing the discount as $1,975.00, however, we would be required to purchase a $900.00 protection package. The sheet clearly showed the trade in of my wife’s exceptional 2018 CRV-EX as $18,000.00. The reason that I decided to trade it in was to get the sales tax exclusion. We said yes to the deal, and were turned over to Derek, the finance guy. After high pressuring us to purchase another protection package, which we declined, he produced the buyer’s order for signature. I told my wife to sign. I didn’t look at it because Johnny had already shown me the numbers. Derek refused to give us any paper work until the check that I dropped off the next day cleared. That took a week until I got the paperwork. When I checked it over I got a rude awakening! Derek had pulled the classic “Bait and Switch”. He had changed the trade from $18,000.00 to $16,735.00, the difference being the sales tax exclusion. He and Johnny both tried to tell me that our effective trade in is $18,000.00. What a bunch of bull! Brown is not entitled to any of the tax exclusion. I have asked Johnny twice for a copy of the original cost sheet showing the $18,000.00 trade in. He has refused. All things considered, we not only did not save anything, we actually ended up $190.00 in the hole. In summary, AVOID BROWN HONDA LIKE THE PLAGUE ! Terrible experience. One that we will not forget.

Tire Warranty a scam
One of the things they do at Brown—when they want to sell you tires—is talk up their "great" warranty. "Full replacement for two years!" But what if I can't get here? I live in Illinois. "Go anywhere they carry this tire and just let us know." That's precisely what I needed to do when a tire failed on Sept 4 (Labor Day) and I let them know the next day, providing the original receipt and replacement receipt. I was connected with Marc Adkins–Fixed Operations Director. Unfortunately, it's very difficult to get a timely response from Marc (a week or more each time I reach out). First he sends me to the insurance company. They said he needs to do it. I inform Marc and now the time just flies by. Oct 20 I'm told we have pre approval and I'll be reimbursed as soon as funds are released. It's now Nov 15 and I've just been told the claim is denied because I didn't get the service done at Brown. Mr. Adkins and his employees don't know the product they're selling to the point they're going to waste my time for two and a half months. I doubt anyone cares. It's just another dealership scam, very disappointing. I won't be going back, that's for sure.

I had a great experience buying a car at Brown Honda. Johnny Grimmett is an excellent sales man and was able to find me the perfect car for my needs! He was very knowlegable about the vehicle and made the buying experience easy and pleasant . His partner John was also an excellent and knowledgeable salesman and spent a lot of time with me helping me set up the car to my needs! When I need my next car I will come back to Brown Honda because of them!!
