You better do due diligence

I purchased a 1996 F250 truck from 4-Wheel Classics in November 2022 and the transaction was smooth, timely, and pleasant. I received the truck a couple of days after payment and everything seemed okay. It wasn't until I drove the truck about 5 miles that I noticed fuel was pouring from the rear tank all over the road, enough so people were pulling up beside me and yelling "you are leaking gas"... I purchased this truck under the premise it was as advertised "Mechanically this truck is excellent and it runs and drives wonderful. The engine is the original 7.5L 460 V8 that runs strong with no issues or red flags that we could find. It recently had a tune-up and they added an aluminum radiator. Other than that it appears to be all stock". In actuality the truck had been altered by a previous owner who by-passed the failed fuel pumps and check valves in the truck fuel tanks and installed an aftermarket fuel pump on the fuel rail cutting all electrical wiring, fuel lines, and fittings to by pass the factory system. When I alerted 4-Wheel they took an immediate defensive posture and after several nasty text exchanges from Rob he said "pay to ship the truck back ($1200 or more) and we will fix it". So buyer beware if you expect their statement from their web site "We hand pick each vehicle, drive it, inspect it, and make sure it is ready for you to enjoy! We drive what we sell so that we can give you a first hand and accurate report on how the vehicle runs and drives" to be true, think twice. He drove it 25 miles according to the odometer reading, said he tried the fuel tanks and they were good. His first response was something must have happened during transit. I questioned him on the known issue with the dual tank Ford trucks and wouldn't an expert in the business at least look for the most common service issue related to the model and of course he took an aggressive and defensive posture again. Nothing happened in transit, as I said the previous owner or owners bypassed the system and 4-Wheel Classics ignored or looked the other way if they in fact inspect the trucks they buy as stated. I now have close to $2000 in fuel system repairs to bring the truck back to "stock" as advertised. Buyer beware. Also note I never asked for a dime for the repairs, I expected a legitimate business to do the right thing. You better do your due diligence if you buy a vehicle from them, don't trust the sales pitch...

Beware

Simply put I bought a truck that looked pretty amazing in the pictures. But needless to say I paid 30,000.00 for at best an 18000.00 dir truck. I took a chance and got snake bit. The ad said it had a complete restoration a couple of yrs ago, I don't think so. The ad said no rust and never has , untrue I found rust in a few places.the radio wasn't even hooked up and the heater defrost vent levers not even connected. The wheels were not held on by lug bolts and nut but by regular nuts and bolts from the hardware store. Pretty sure that is extremely dangerous and probably not even legal for a dealership to sell that way. The owner( Rob ) is in my opinion a very unethical person.

Dealer response

Randy, why must you lie? You wanted to buy a 1979 Ford Short Box Pickup that you thought was a $60,000 truck for $30,000. You called up and bought it and did not ask hardly any questions. The body on the truck is rust free and the pictures clearly show surface rust on the undercarriage. At the price you bought the truck for you could sell it easily for more than what you paid for it and I could have sold it a dozen times. This is a beautiful 1979 Ford F150 Short Box in Black and Silver. Check it out under our sold inventory on our website it is Stock #21162. Our website is www.4-wheelclassics.com.

1985 Chevy Silverado WOW!!

I bought a beautiful 1985 Silverado and it is everything they said and showed it would be. Excellent customer service Rob answer all my questions almost as fast as I asked. Great place to buy a old classic truck and I will definitely be doing more business with them.

Not your average used car dealer

Purchased a 76F250, a fair deal, very helpful with transportation to another State. Discovered two drive train issues once I drove truck a bit and had some upgrades made. I brought them to Robs attention. He was very helpful in solving issues and finding an extremely rare part. I've dealt with seven used car dealers over passed 12yrs. Some turned out to be untruthful, misleading, dishonest... Rob has been great, would do business with him without any concerns. TonyZ

Great experience! Great Truck!

I purchased a 79 F250 Supercab from here a few months ago and couldn't be happier with the service I received during the entire transaction. I was skeptical about buying an older vehicle so it took me awhile to move forward with the purchase. To my surprise I received zero pressure or harrassment to buy from them while I was thinking it through; Rob patiently answered my questions and provided friendly customer service. Rob was also very straight forward and honest in regards to the condition of the truck. Overall this was the best auto buying experience I've ever had.

Highly recommend this dealer!

After months of searching online for an older F250, I was skeptical to make a purchase sight unseen from so far away. Wiring money before you see the vehicle in person is a little scary. Getting the proper paperwork to register it in my state was another concern. Rob put our mind at ease and assured us any paperwork problems he would assist with. We had no issues at all. Entire transaction was went smoothly. Rob at 4-Wheel Classics is the real deal. Don't hesitate to purchase from this guy, highly recommend. He does a great job start to finish with all the pictures and videos so there really are no surprises. He was patient with us and even arranged shipping which went well. Truck was exactly as expected and I would purchase from him again without hesitation.
