Bad experience

Everything went smoothly until I saw my bank account balance too low. After checking into it I found Carmax had taken a car payment out for the car I traded in. Come to find out they had not paid off the entire amount, which caused my auto payment to then come out after the sale. After a long battle on the phone they said they would pay it off and return my payment. A week went by and they indeed payed off the car, however I still had not received a check. I called Carmax and talked to a supervisor who told me the check takes two weeks and there was nothing they could do, because it was my fault I had auto pay. The rep was very rude about. Also I do not believe they gave my a fair price for my trade in but that was my choice to take it. They also only gave me 1 key and the keys cost near 200 dollars.

Great Service.

Sales person Kenya Ellis-Walker helped us filter through the choices we had researched. She is knowledgeable, relaxed, patient and listened to us so that she understood what each of us in this couple wanted. She is great. Plus the whole Car Max experience is pleasant because you can flip among comparable cars of different makes and compare then and there. And you are not pressured at all because the sales people are salaried--the entire experience reduces stress and gives you more choice. Good for people who prefer space to think and options to compare.

Manager takes Jeep home for the weekend

The manager of the Gainesville FL CarMax store took a jeep Rubicon home for the weekend. That was the same jeep I was trying to transfer to California to be purchased. I was told by the sales associates even though the jeep was still on the website it couldn't be held or transferred that I needed to wait until the manager was done with it for the weekend. On Monday when I called again to transfer and purchase the jeep I was informed that over the weekend the manager learned that perhaps the jeep wasn't in that great of shape and I probably shouldn't transfer it he was going to put it in the shop. The jeep is still under warranty and has less than 25,000 miles on it yet the manager stated it was running hot misfiring and the power mirrors weren't working correctly . All this sounds a little "too much" for a 2015 Rubicon. The manager should be driving his own car on the weekend and leaving the cars that are for sale alone so customers like me in California are not unsatisfied when they had planned on purchasing a jeep and told that I need to wait until the manager at Carmax is done taking it out for the weekend this is completely unprofessional . I do not believe anything was wrong with the jeep and it was an excuse to keep it in Florida so he could continue to drive it and or purchase it himself for his weekend leisurely use . I am very unsatisfied that Carmax has managers that do these things they should hold themselves to a higher standard. If the jeep is listed for sale on the website you should be able to hold it and purchase it like the website states. Perhaps David Pressly should be reprimanded and or move on from the management position he currently holds and allow someone with true management skills to take over who is a professional and treat their customers fairly .
