Russell Hunter worst service manager ever!

I wish I would have read reviews before taking in my Tiguan for service at Dothan Volkswagen. So many bad reviews on the service manger Russell Hunter. I also had a terrible experience with him. You wouldn’t believe that after paying almost $900 Russell would argue so much over an $82 tape job. My driver’s seat was making noise due to a broken piece that protects the electric wires underneath which we let them know about. When Tarna called to let us know they fixed it with electric tape and the charge was $82. We were obviously not happy! Tarna then said she can have the tape removed and charge us $165 instead which is for removing the seat that they never removed in the first place. What?? Really?? So we asked to talk to the manager. Then things got worse. He argued that they were being nice and the tape job was free and they gave us 50% off the diagnosis which we already told them what the problem is and it is written in the notes. It would only take a couple of minutes to look under the seat. Tarna and Russell had two different stories. When my brother asked what is your name to the service manager he didn’t want to give it. Now knowing about all the bad reviews just on him, I can see why he didn’t want to give his name but after 4 times asking he finally gave his first name. When asked what his last name was he said it was none of our business and this isn’t a legal matter. My brother said it actually is a legal matter than Russell said he doesn’t have a last name. Russell said, “My Mama didn’t give me a last name” Really this is a service manager at a Volkswagen dealership?? Russell finally agreed to remove the $82 tape fee job but without telling us that he will have the tape removed. When I went to pick up my vehicle, I was told Russell will come out to ring me up. I was assuming that he wanted to smooth things over but NO just the opposite. He wanted to argue some more over it. I finally had to say that I didn’t come down here for this. I just want to pay and leave. After paying and getting into my car, I went to move my seat up and it made a horrible noise and wouldn’t move. I went back in and that’s when I was told that they removed the tape and probably in haste. I was in tears over the treatment I was receiving. I said I can’t even drive home with the seat broken and couldn’t believe Russell was so petty to take off the tape. He then followed me to my car and fiddled under my seat and broke off the piece that was originally taped. This allowed the chair to move but now I have more of an issue with my chair with the wires not being properly protected. I would love to know why Dothan Volkswagen keeps Russell Hunter employed?? We will be calling Volkswagen of America tomorrow to let them know of our treatment at Dothan Volkswagen. All of this over a 5 minute tape job! Unbelievable!

Do not take your car here to be worked on.

Do not take your car here to be worked on. I took my car in because the check engine light was on and it wasn't running efficiently. I was given a quote of $1,000 to have it fixed. About a week or so later they called and said that additional work needed to be done and the total would be $3,000. Although I don't have that kind of money just laying around, I needed my car so I reluctantly agreed. A couple of weeks went by and they still had my car. They told me that the check engine light was still on and they wanted to try and figure out why. I told them I was not paying any more money for this car. A couple more weeks went by and I was told it would be at least $1,500 to fix it (if not more). I told them I was coming to get my car. They said it was running but the check engine light was still on. I went and got the car and not only the check engine light was on, but several other lights were on that weren't on when I took it in. The car drove worse than it did prior to me taking it in. I drove it for about four days and then it went into safe mode so I can't drive it at all now. They never fixed the problem that I took it in for and now I am out $3,000 and have a car that doesn't run at all. Long story short.... Bait and switch.

I drop my car off with VW of Dothan for TPS recall, I

I drop my car off with VW of Dothan for TPS recall, I informed them that my transmission was making a rattling noise, just got off the phone with one of their (Technical services) representative, was informed that they are only required to drive 5-7 miles to road test my vehicle (not long enough to warm a vehicle up, not just parked to warm up but it needs to be driven, he stated will I pay for his technician to drive my car longer to find the issue (rattling noise my transmission is make) What are you really paying for, poor service can be very expensive, but you pay for what you get, not today buddy never again 🤬🤬🤬🤬

2016 Tiguan is crap. Bought it with 32k miles on it, and it has never been more than 6 months between check engine lights. They keep it for days at a time, talking to engineers who supposedly have no idea why it is a piece of crap. Then they replace something, you pay hundreds of dollars, and WHOOPSIE! That didn't work, let's try something else.

Salesperson

Service was great, but financing at 0 down was not granted by Credit Union due to my age at 59. I guess, I was too old to qualify

Disappointed!!

Before purchasing I was leasing. Six months ago I purchase a 2013 Jetta diesel it had just arrived in Dothan that evening ,they let me drive it home for the night, the next day I had to take it back for inspection I noticed bad tires but Chris the manager would not let the service department change out the tires. Yes I did sign all paperwork but i feel like a used car should be inspected in detail from a big corporation like Volkswagen and if something needs to be replaced do it without and charge to the customer, it's not like I did not purchase the vehicle!!! Owners of Dothan Volkswagen needs to do employee evaluation!!

Great Service

This review is a little late coming. We were driving through Alabama about six months ago when our Eurovan had a Check Engine Light problem. Luckily this dealership was only a few miles away so I had the van towed there. It was just before closing but Bill in service could not have been friendlier or more accommodating, he was the best. They looked at it first thing, found out what the problem was and called me for an OK to order parts. Parts came in the next day and we were on the way. Great friendly service and great professional work done. We don't like to break down, but we were glad we did in Dothan Alabama! I'll stop for an oil change my next time through town.
