I went to South Shore Hyundai in Valley Stream, NY to buy

I went to South Shore Hyundai in Valley Stream, NY to buy out my lease. After 45 minutes, I was quoted a buyout price of nearly $19,000, much higher than the $15,242.06 residual value listed by Hyundai Motor Finance ($16,921.42 with taxes). I was told this included fees like car certification and DMV services—which were not required when I dealt with Hyundai Motor Finance directly. I completed my lease buyout without those added costs or any inspection. This experience left me feeling misled. I won’t return to this dealership and urge them to provide clearer, more transparent pricing to customers moving forward.

Dealer response

Very sorry to hear about your experience here at South Shore Hyundai. Our goal is always customer satisfaction. We give our customers two options when purchasing out their lease 1) residual value + tax. 2) residual value + tax + certified wrap. Option 2 gives extended warrantee coverage at a great value. You always have the options to decline and by no means is it an obligation. Your business manager Frank unfortunately was not given the time to go further in depth on these options as your time was very limited. If you would like to proceed with the conversation please let us know and our General Sales Manager Daniel would be happy to discuss this matter with you!

wow still have the car and the dealer refuses to work

wow still have the car and the dealer refuses to work with me. I recently DES covered that this dealership is held by an under world society. Tom Corolla and Mr. John Staluppi refuse to call. Me back. They pulled a fast move on us and it has escalated to the corporate offices. Be aware I tried to return my new leased car to 5 dealers only to find out they will mot take it for early lease return because they all fall under the Atlantic auto group. I have had to. Call my local police department for extra security surveillance because of the many charges against the owners. I am currently working with the attorney general and will let you know the outcome….stand by. Also people get on the phone and berate you Ross inpiticilar for me to find out he works for Toyaota and not Hayundi.

⚠️ AVOID SOUTH SHORE HYUNDAI AT ALL COSTS –

⚠️ AVOID SOUTH SHORE HYUNDAI AT ALL COSTS – UNPROFESSIONAL, DISRESPECTFUL, AND HOSTILE EXPERIENCE ⚠️ On Saturday, May 10th, I visited South Shore Hyundai with my cousin to lease a 2025 Sonata N Line — and it quickly turned into one of the most disrespectful and hostile dealership experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment we stepped in, salesperson Chris Gurr made it clear he had zero interest in dealing with informed customers. When asked about available lease offers, his response was not only unprofessional — it was borderline threatening. His exact words: “I’m here to make money. I’m gonna scare the xxxx out of you out the door when I give you the price.” Let that sink in. Despite this, we remained calm and asked to see numbers. What did he come back with? A laughable $600–$700/month quote on a car that’s nowhere near luxury territory. When we pointed out Hyundai’s official lease offer — $415/month for qualified buyers — and presented a fair counter, his response? “That’s stupid.” Still, we proceeded. After running the credit application, they eventually agreed to our numbers — but not before making us sit for nearly HOURS, with zero courtesy, no acknowledgment of the wait, and absolutely no professionalism. Then came the finance manager, Jason Jin — who seemed personally offended that we dared to ask questions about the contract. When I mentioned that we’d been there since 1 PM and were exhausted, his reply? “That’s okay. I’ve been here since 8:30.” This kind of condescension, arrogance, and total disregard for customer service was the theme of the entire visit. To top it off, Chris Gurr continued to harass us for a deposit while we were still reviewing final numbers — pushing aggressively and behaving as if we were legally obligated to pay on the spot (we weren’t). It was clear they were trying to wear us down emotionally and mentally until we gave in. This is not just bad business — it’s predatory, manipulative, and downright toxic. South Shore Hyundai isn’t interested in long-term customer relationships or ethical sales practices. Their goal is to squeeze as much money out of you as possible in one visit, then move on to the next. I’ve already filed a formal complaint with Hyundai USA and will be leaving detailed reviews on Edmunds, BBB, CARFAX, and every relevant platform to warn others. 🚫 You’ve been warned: Stay far away from South Shore Hyundai. 🚫

Ramon from South Shore Hyundai was absolutely amazing.

Ramon from South Shore Hyundai was absolutely amazing. He was patient, kind, and I did not feel pressured or rushed. We had left a different dealership bc they we felt preasured to buy something we didn't want. Ramon heard what I need in the car and stayed as close as possible to my budgeted. Thank you again for everything.
