Awesome Experience!

Had a great experience buying a used TDI from Speedcraft last month. Great service from Maria and Bill, no pressure sale and nice help from Ian in finance. They made it ez. Bill in service was extra helpful with a small repair. Nice folks and a sweet car.

Very rough transaction and repair.

There were numerous issues with my transaction at Speedcraft Volkswagen for the purchase of my 2012 Touareg. I drove 1 hour 45 minutes to check out/pick up the vehicle on June 1st. When I got there, the vehicle was about 100 miles until due for an oil change. It was missing the rear wiper and arm which they had to replace before I left (they had one in stock). I did financing through them which was originally going to go through VW Financial, but they filled out the paperwork wrong so when they corrected it, it was denied, so they had to have me refill out the paperwork for Bank of America. When I was there originally, they didn’t have me sign some crucial paperwork (i.e. the title of the vehicle) so I had to go back there on June 17th to personally sign the paperwork requiring me to take a half day at work. Since I was going back there I had them do an oil change, front wiper change (they were torn up, I didn’t notice until it rained the day after) and balance the tires that had a shake that wasn’t discovered until after I was able to drive at highway speeds (70-75mph). After the balance and rotation the Touareg still had a tire shake. On the 21st I discover that the Touareg is leaking a ton of oil out of the bottom of the vehicle. I took the vehicle to a more local VW dealer to find that they didn’t replace the crush washer\didn’t put on a crush washer on the oil drain causing it to leak. I had to pay for the repair and Speedcraft refunded my money. By this time, I was a bit frustrated, so I got VW of NA involved. Come to find out I was supposed to be given an inspection sheet of the vehicle for the CPO (certified pre-owned) program ensuring that the vehicle was inspected. After two or so weeks I got a CPO sheet that was entirely falsified; the tire wear was wrong, they wrote that the vehicle was inspected on May 30th but it arrived on the 31st according to the person I was emailing\texting, the VW dealer near me discovered that the skid plate was held up by zipties, etc. My main concern was a tire and possible brake shake, so Speedcraft allowed me to bring it to a local place to diagnose the issues. Come to find out all four tires were flatspotted and the rotors were warped. They wouldn’t allow the local VW dealer to replace the tires and they told VW of NA that they were denying all service. I called Speedcraft and they said they wanted to look at it themselves to make sure the local VW dealer was telling the truth. They picked up the vehicle and discovered that everything the local VW said was true. They replaced the rotors and replaced the tires with what is by far the most bottom-barrel cheapest tire I have ever seen (Wild Spirit Sport HXTs). When I got the vehicle back, it had a quarter tank less diesel, it still had tire grease all over the wheels, and the faces were scratched up from what looks to be tools from trying to put the tires on. All and all, if they were even local I would never take the car to them again.

Headlights factory recall

VW recall (9419) to fix headlights was performed as expected. Car was washed and dislodged aerial was re-attached at no cost. Courtesy of service desk was great.

Very helpful and courteous

The staff was very accommodating when I needed a last minute repair. The pricing was fair. I also found out that they will service my other car which is not a VW.

Bad at their job, good at lying!

Disorganized and incapable of communicating effectively. Consistently trying to manipulate the situation, throw other departments under the bus, lying to our faces. Screwed up every single step of the process possible. Damaged our car while in their car, and they lie about it. Drove our car, and put miles on it, unnecessarily while in their care, and they can't explain it. Stay away.

Selling cars without doing safety recalls

They sold a car that had a open recall on may 8th (safety related airbag)... the customer took physical delivery on may 25th... they could not register and gave client a rental.. in the meantime the car was damaged while in their possession.. The GM “JeFF”... has avoided and will not give the client anything in writing about fixing the damage... next step is calling the dealer commission cause with all the problems with VW recalls this would not be a good thing.. JeFF the GM HAS EXTREME poor people skills and avoids customers... He certainly is NOT qualified to be in the car business and should not have any customer contact. The Vice President of the company should really consider firing someone like JeFF and find a qualified manager..

Go Elsewhere, horrible customer service

Honestly their customer service and follow through is non existent, these guys don't know how to run a business, they will sell you a car for sure, after that watch out. I purchased my new E Golf 2-27-19 as they are not sold in my state, I worked a deal for about 3 weeks and finally agreed on a purchase price. I hopped on a plane from CO and picked up the car in person, I then shipped the car to CO from RI. Everything was great at this point, the team was very communicative, met me late to take delivery you name it they where there. Unfortunately the honeymoon was very short lived, about 2 weeks after taking delivery of my new E Golf and after the car was now in my driveway in the state of Colorado I received a call from the Finance Manager Ian stating they had made a large mistake and wouldn't be able to honor the deal, their was a mistake on their part, they then asked to take the car back. Now remember this dealership in in Rhode Island and I am in Colorado, taking the car back was not an option, I had already sold my MK6 ICE Golf. I attempted to work with Ian to come up with a mutual solution that helped both parties, unfortunately we couldn't make that happen. At this point I had to get VW Of America involved as things where spiraling fast. Long story made shorter, I purchased a car laying out the requirements, they botched the deal, Its now 12 weeks later and I am still working to solve all the issues they have created. Accessories arriving 8 weeks after purchase, credit card deposits being held illegally 4 weeks after purchase, 9 Fraudulent Hard credit inquiries that will take 2 years to fall off, temp plates that expired while they tried to figure out their own business that I then had a car sit in my garage insured and incurring costs that I could not legally operate. Plates that took nearly 9 weeks to obtain that where first advertised as being a few weeks to get. Refunds for accessories and plates and registration that still haven't been solved. This is the cliff notes version to this nightmare. To make matters worse Speedcraft's Managements response to me asking what they plan to do for me to make up for the past 9 weeks of time and effort on my part? You got a good deal!! That's what they actually said to me. Do yourself a favor DO NOT do business with these guys, you will thank me later. I don't prefer to leave negative reviews, but my only recourse to help modify their behavior is to effect their bottom line. I will be leaving reviews anywhere I can to ensure customers go somewhere else. They desperately need a management refresh.

The service here is a disservice to VW!

I have purchased several VW's from Speedcraft, Always working with Luke, who is no longer there. Never had any issues with the usual shell game played between the sales person, sales manager and the finance guy. However they have the worst service department a 100 mile radius. Regardless of the issue they always find it impossible to diagnose on the first trip. It takes an average of 3-4 trips to the service department for them to even get close to it. Invariably, I need to take it to a Mattie or Scott VW for proper diagnosis and repair. The most recent occurred at approx. 24000 miles, in December of 2018, when the brakes began to pulse. I found this disconcerting and immediately brought it to the dealership who promptly informed me I needed brakes and rotors. Having owned 10 pervious VW's and never having to replace brakes prior to 89K I found this difficult to understand. I asked if it would be covered under warranty and was informed it was a "wear and tear item". It took 4 calls over 3 weeks to the acting service manager for him to call VW to see if it would be covered. They finally agreed to cover the repair and replace the pads and rotors under warranty. Now 4 months later the brakes are again pulsing, a trip back to the service department resulted in me being told I needed another set of brakes and rotors. I was informed this was normal wear and tear and was not under warranty. There was once again a new service manager and all new service staff. I was told I would have to assume all costs for my second set of brakes and rotors in 4 months. I called VW Customer Care who after listening escalated it to the regional service rep. After 4 days I received a voice mail from CHRIS who stated he would get back to me. After 4 days of no contact and several left messages I got to speak to him. I immediately heard a strange tome in his voice as if he was multitasking or possibly just exhausted. He abruptly informed me that there were no recalls on brakes and this was simply wear and tear issue, yes even after 4 months. When I pressed the issue I was told that the general manager had graciously offered to pay for 25% of the parts for the repair. wen I remarked that it was not any big deal as it represented the dealers mark up on parts and while sounding good still left me with 7/8's of the cost of a repair which was just repaired. I was also informed that the rotors were never replaced the first time. So basically after telling me i needed rotors and pads in December, telling me they replaced both under warranty, they in fact simply replaced the pads guaranteeing that the brakes would once again fail in short order. I remarked that I wondered if they had been reimbursed to replace both and simply replaced just the pads and Chris remarked that I would never be able to find that out so either way I needed brake pads and rotors and it was my responsibility. So basically I was provided VW customer disservice all the way around. I will never go back to this dealership for service. This is not the first time I have gotten the feeling that they are double dipping on warranty reimbursement without actually performing the service. On 3 other occasions after going to Speedcraft with service concerns and being told on each occasion the issue was within specs and then bring the same concerting to Mattie and Scott VW the issues were immediately identified and repaired under warranty. There is a reason they can't retain service staff and I have to wonder if the previous staff is serving jail time for consumer fraud. This dealership is 5 minutes from my home and I would rather travel 60 minutes to go to a real VW service department for actual service. I suggest avoiding this dealership and its disservice department at all costs.

Amazing all all fronts Sales,Servie,Parts

Short story Absolutely amazing effort from sales, service, parts, everyone has gone above and beyond to make the process of buying a new vehicle as smooth and painless as possible, I will be back for the next one and I highly recommend them Long story Dealt with Sam from sales, he was very knowledgeable and answered any question I had, or would get the answer for me, he worked with me seeing as I was 45 min away and was trying to get some info before I drove out to look at a few cars, when the time came we worked out a deal. Jess the sales manager was amazing, she was able to offer some amazing advise and helped lead me to the right car, she went above and beyond to work on a deal that worked for me and would make me happy. Through out the process the entire sales crew was amazing, when I was waiting we they made me feel welcomed, asking how thing we’re going, about my day, little things that play a big role in the comfort of a customer, and make you feel like more than just an xxx for a seat Ian with finance was courteous and informative when it came time to sign all the paperwork, offered advise on the company’s they worked with and provide detailed info on the service they offer, didn’t rush me, or try to up-sell me Service was great, they got the car ready and verified a few concerns I had, they addressed them in a very timely manner, they also maintained an amazing level of professionalism Parts was able to provide info on somethings I was interested in for the vehicle, didn’t have stock on them but was able to order and would have in a few days considering the weekend
