First of all I should have known from the beginning

First of all I should have known from the beginning Elizabeth gave me three different prices for the jeep commander I kept calling her out on it and finally she brought it down to the price advertised on online. Tony was great he worked with me on everything then he went out on medical and all went down hill from there. The car was delivered to me with some damage that was not shown on the video or pictures. The gentlemen that took over for Tony said while the car was in the driveway Maryland inspections are tough they do much more then needed so it could fail. They should have Been a trigger for me. We too it to get inspected I get a call stating can’t believe they sold you the car like this and how it passed va inspection is beyond me. It failed no back seat belt, blinker didn’t work left side it came on for no reason while driving that was a disaster finding parts and pricey. Also the gas tank was falling out it was so rusted and only being held on by a strap. Front ball joints were bad. This all was 2200.00 to fix plus we bought the parts because it was cheaper which was another 600.00 Plus not shown in video back bumper messed up and front right side of car dented. So they agreed to give us 400.00 to fix the cosmetic stuff as they called it and 950.00 towards the stuff wrong with the car. So you can see even with that small amount they gave us we still had a lot of out of pocket for a used car that was supposed to be cheaper that’s why we went that route. Got the car back drove it one day and started making a knocking noise took it back to the car place and it now has differential issues which is another 1100.00 with parts and labor as it’s a big job and they have to take the whole front part apart. It would be nice if this place would help us out more but was told we signed the as is and they already gave us 1350.00 as a favor. As you can see that Doesn't even come close to what we have endured in costs it’s been a complete nightmare to say the least. Buyer beware unless you have tony that can see you all the way through. Why don’t think they push signing the as is paper. Bottom line is they sold a car they was not safe that you could drive and gas tank could fall out for one amongst other things. And after it failed inspection the gentlemen who took over for Tony Ali I believe needed to call the inspection place to talk to them not sure why the mechanic said he knew nothing about cars. I would like them to make this right but they won’t because so we have heard is Elizabeth didn’t make much on this sale now that they had to give us the 1350.00 I really don’t care.

Dealer response

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We understand your concerns and appreciate the opportunity to address them. The vehicle in question was clearly advertised under our "Pre Auction As-Is" selection. This program allows customers to purchase recently traded-in vehicles at a significantly reduced price, sold in their current condition without any warranties. We always encourage our customers to have these vehicles inspected at their preferred service facility. We made sure to disclose the "As-Is" condition in our advertisements and reiterated it during the sale process, with the disclosure also signed by you. Despite this, we offered to return the vehicle and cancel the sale or provide a refund towards repairs. After discussing these options, you and your husband opted to receive a refund of 25%, or $1,350.00, of the vehicle's cost, which was $5,895.00. We hope this resolution demonstrates our commitment to customer satisfaction, even in challenging situations. Thank you again for your feedback.

BUYER BEWARE!!!

We drove 4 hours from Virginia, with the intention of bringing home the gray 2015 BMW X3 (VIN 5UXWX9C57F0D56604). We took the car (against head manager Ali Nezam's advice), to the BMW of Alexandria dealership for a PPI (pre-purchase inspection); this cost to us was $349 plus tax. Ali tried to tell us how expensive it would be and tried to deter us from doing this. Ali tried to send us to BMW of Fairfax, where he bragged he had a "foreman that could see the car off the books". I passed obviously. The service advisor at BMW of Alexandria, John Mannion, told us there were numerous, serious issues with the vehicle and he COULD NOT RECOMMEND BUYING IT. John told us the car was "MECHANICALLY TOTALED". The cost to repair everything wrong was near $20,000!!! This included replacing the entire engine! John explained, "there were chunks of metal in the oil pan when we drained it". How could any 1/2 competent mechanic miss this? Ali had an excuse for everything. There was "obvious water damage inside the cabin and around the battery" per John's report. The display screen had been changed out already and the WRONG screen installed. John suspects the water damage is what ruined the original screen and “heads-up display” feature, which we noticed was not functioning during our test drive. There were oil splatters on the serpentine belt and tensioner, indicating a blown engine. Someone did a temporary fix but failed to replace the belt and tensioner, so it was obvious to a competent mechanic what had happened. Multiple panels were missing from the undercarriage of the vehicle. There were suspension issues and the report stated "INCREASED CHANCE OF ROLL-OVER ACCIDENT. John said he did not feel the car would have even made the drive back to Virginia! Ali sent an email with rebuttals to everything refuting what the BMW dealership of Alexandria (who has no skin in the game and is UNBIASED) found in their pre-purchase inspection. He has an excuse for everything. Please feel free to call JOHN MANNION at the BWM of Alexandria dealership and discuss this with him if there's any question to my intentions. I am a physician and base my life and practice on transparency and honesty. All the negative reviews seem right in line with my own experience. Multiple people reporting they had to replace entire engines within weeks of buying from Ali. Upon arrival, Tony the sales rep met us and pulled the vehicle from a storage rack. He started it up and we noticed a ticking with the engine. He immediately Googled 2015 BMW X3 and showed us how this is common with the fuel injectors. I searched this quickly and found this to be true, UNLESS, it's something more serious! When I tried to address this with him, he dismissed the idea and was emphatic "it is normal and just the fuel injectors". Ok, so we sat in the car and I noticed some water in the back seat. I couldn't see where it had leaked in from but this was also a red flag. When I started navigating though the dash menu screen and noticed the pixels didn't line up. I brought this to Tony's attention and he stated "it must just need a software update". Again, minimizing every issue as "no big deal". When he couldn't resolve the issue he got the manager, Ali Nezam, involved. The slick tongued manager proceeded to also tell us how it "just needed a software update" and he "would take care of it". After waiting for an hour, disconnecting the battery, having his "mechanic" pull it into the garage and remove the display unit, he conceded it needed a new screen. I inquired, how do we know it's not the entire head unit causing the issue ($3000 repair from BMW) and he was adamant that it wasn't. He had a fast and slick rebuttal to every concern we had. I was polite with Ali but since he would never return my phone calls, I communicated through email and text. I requested he respectfully pay the $360 total we paid for the pre-purchase inspection, he declined. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Bait car

After reading other reviews I believe there may be some "shady" dealings with this dealership. Why wouldn't a company return emails to a potential customer? You decide for yourself, I've made up my mind. Wouldn't recommend this dealership.

Good Experience for an out of State Buyer

Out of state buyer, so I had the BMW I was interested in sent to the BMW Dealership for a full inspection. They dropped of car as well as picked it up after the inspection. As you would expect the dealership was able to find some concerns. Tony and his team went out of their way to start fixing the issues. During this process I decided to go a different direction and not purchase the car. Tony was very gracious and said he would work on refunding my deposit immediately and hoped we could work together in the future.

Shady business practices

I purchased a 2012 Volvo XC60. CEL came on a week after purchase. They tried to hide the fact that the cat converter was bad by pairing a fouler with the O2 Sensor to TRICK the car into thinking the cat was working. Took the fouler off and BOOM, code P0420. Now I need a new cat converter. But like the old saying goes "you get what you pay for"

First thank you for the feedback. It is through feedback from customers such as yourself that we can improve our quality and service. I have gone over our internal notes and met with the departments involved. Because this was an out of state registration (in this case Florida) the delays on the registration and license plates were caused by the Florida DMV. Unfortunately, since the beginning of COVID most DMVs across the United States are using COVID as an excuse to delay paperwork. We are experiencing this issue across the board with many of our customers. It is making our job very difficult and has become an arduous process. I believe our title department contacted you through a text message on November the 8th advising you that they would send you a second temporary set of license plate because FL had not processed the paperwork on time?

Flexible and Straight Shooting Sales Manager

After connecting with the Tony, the sales manager, I set up an appointment to see the car. The sales team was friendly and welcoming. I will disclose that I take an extremely detailed in my approach to buying a used car. Tony and his team accommodated my request to put the car on a lift, talk to his service manager, and get the car inspected in Maryland because the requirements are different state to state. In addition, Tony was flexible and straight shooting about the cost of his car and extremely transparent when discussing terms. Tony went the extra mile and addressed my concerns regarding specific items that caused the car to fail Maryland inspection. What I valued the most, was Tony's honesty during the process. Don't get me wrong the sales team are salesmen because they need to sell a car. But the experience was good because Tony went out of his way to be creative in order to make a deal. All in all it was a good experience.
