$3000 worth of work on car I had 5 months!

Absolutely horrible experience! My Cadillac was totaled in October 2021. It took me a few weeks to find a vehicle, and I thought I had found a reliable one at Jim Douglas Auto Sales. On the day I test drove the vehicle, I could hear clicking when the wheel would turn, and a faint howling/humming noise coming from the center of the vehicle, but I do not know anything about cars, I needed a vehicle, having been without one since October 23, 2021, I had just driven almost 2 hours (since finding a reliable cost friendly vehicle during this pandemic is not easy), and I had thought the vehicle had just been sitting for a period of time undriven and it was just working out some kinks.On the day I returned to get the vehicle and drive it home, the car was following the grooves in the pavement very strangely, but I still felt as though it had something to do with maintainanceable items, ie a wheel bearing, strut, etc. Over the next 3 months the car continued to have these issues, but was driveable, and I anticipated fixing the items when my income tax came in, considering I am a single mother! When my taxes came in, I called to make an appt to take the vehicle into my local Ford Dealership to have it inspected and fixed. The day before my appt to take the car into the dealship, the car began making this loud thumping/knocking noise, on my way home from working the nightshift, at a hospital, located an hour from my home. I took the car to the appointment the next day, only to be told the issue was not caused by a maintanenceable item, but instead the entire rear differential on my car went out, and would cost $2500 to repair, on top of an additional $1000 for a strut that needed repaired. I have had the car 5 months, purchase date November 12, 2021, and most of the miles on the car were highway miles commuting to work. I can say I did not reach out to Jim Douglas Auto Sales regarding the sound the car was making, because it is a used vehicle, and as I said before, I thought it was caused by maintananceable items, like a wheel bearing, etc., and when I had money from my income tax, I could repair it. I was informed by Adam, that the car extended warranty should cover the issue, and that I should have Bell Ford reach out to the warranty company, which I did. After speaking with the warrenty company, we were going to move forward with fixing the car. Bell Ford then told me, it would be2 weeks or more, before the car would be fixed, depending upon parts, available techs, since we are still in a pandemic and people are not yet working back at full capacity. I then came to the realization that I was going to be without a vehicle for weeks, and I did not have the money to afford a rental car for what could be a month. I then asked the Bell Ford if they could provide me with a courtesy vehicle in the meantime, due to the circumstances I have listed above. I was informed that since their courtesy vehicles are in such high demand at this time, they were reserving them for customers who purchased their vehicles through them. The dealership then advised me to reach out to the dealership I purchased the vehicle from, which I then did. I explained the issue to Adam, which stated he would call around to mechanics closer to him to find out if anything could be done. He then texted me, instead of calling me back, to inform me that my best option was to take the car into the Ford dealership, and just wait until they could fix it. I then explained to Adam that I could not be without a vehicle, and asked if there was anything that he could help provide, so I could get myself to work and my children to school, in the meantime. Adam then stated his insurance would not provide for anyone to take a vehicle off the lot overnight, and that there was absolutely nothing he could do to help. According to the Ford dealership that is going to do the work, and many online car websites, rear differentials don't go bad overnight!! BEWARE

Awesome Dealership

What a great buying experience in general. They responded extremely promptly any time that I had a question or concern and were extremely friendly throughout the entire process. Adam did everything and more that we asked of him in terms of help with information or with fixing something on the car that I was buying when we asked. Not to mention at a price that was awesome. I would highly recommended this dealership to anyone. Just because they are a smaller dealership does not mean that they aren't just as good as the large dealerships.

When Art Douglas came to our house to buy our Daughter's car he looked at our Grand Am. Offered us a very fair price so we sold him that one too. On our way to the bank. EASY AND FAST.

Best used car dealer in the area!

I just purchased a 2008 Saturn Astra and the entire process was excellent. Art Douglas searched for a specific type vehicle that I requested and called when he had one. The vehicle was clean all the way around and was in near perfect mechanical condition. When they performed an inspection at my request it came back clean with the exception that it needed brakes, so they had new brakes installed for no additional charge! I will continue to buy and sell cars at Jim Douglas Auto Sales. I always have a great experience.

Great service

We just purchased our second vehicle from Art Douglas and we couldn't be happier. We got a very clean good quality vehicle for a very fair price. Art and his son Adam made the experience very easy. We will definitely purchase cars there in the future.
