CarMax was prompt reaching out to me.
CarMax was prompt reaching out to me. When I looked at the car there was no pressure to buy it. I ended up getting something else and was quickly in and out of the dealership!

Worst car buying experience ever.
Worst car buying experience ever. Selected car and began the buying process. Every step was so fragmented with a different person. They wouldn't tell you anything about future steps until you were at that step and if they did because you were specifically asking, then the info was wrong. The whole process was over a week and at the end we were so fed up that we canceled it at the end. Despite that they still tried to deliver the car. The communication was beyond lacking, it was atrocious! They are also overly invasive demand full SSN (even when not financing through them) and if you are paying in full, they require you to log into your banking information, through their site btw, so they can access your personal accounts to "confirm" funds. They won't accept bank statements or receipts. They also lie about how this process works or don't disclose all this until you try to do it. Ultimately this whole company is not worth it.

Lowball offers on cars
I went to get a car appraised and look at a few they had on the lot. I had received several other offers for over 15K more than they offered. When I pointed that out they said that the dealership would "scr*w" me on the purchase, and they wouldn't, and that I'd spend more than the 15K less they offered on the car. It's simply not true, their prices are at or above the local dealers. Was a waste of time. A long time ago I only purchased from CarMax. It was so simple, no haggle, and I always received a good trade in value. This is the 2nd care I've had appraised that was more than 10K less than other dealerships.

Had a car on hold, came with $5K to put down and my own financing in place with a letter of pre-approval from a Federal Credit Union, and proof of insurance on the care we were purchasing. The CarMax rep on the phone said the entire process would take about an hour. It took 4 HOURS! My loan officer was on the phone with them 3 times and every time they kept changing what they needed. It should never take 4 hours to purchase a car. We had everything ready when we walked in the door. They were inept, made multiple mistakes on the bill of sale that lengthened the process. They told us the phone rep from CarMax should never have told us it would only take an hour. They are SLOW, rude, do not respect your time, and the car had stains on the interior where they did a completely shoddy job cleaning it. We had to bring it home and clean it ourselves. Absolutely ridiculous process. I will warn everyone to avoid this place and we will never give them business again.

Had heard that Carmax gave strong offers for vehicles. Had already received a strong offer from Carvana for my vehicle of $16k. Decided to get a few more offers just to make sure. Hyundai of Carmel offered me $15k. Carmax came in at $13,500!! Wow, literally a 1/4 mile drive down 96th St would earn you an extra $1500. Drive a little further and you get $2500 more. Was really disappointed. Customer service rep was nice and it was a quick process; I'll give 'em that.

Lied to my Face and Cost us Money
My wife bought a car from this dealer. It came home with a sticker saying it had a one hundred and some point inspection. Yet, the tires were at 3/32 and there was a torn CV boot ripped and flinging grease everywhere which could be a huge problem for the CV joint. I noticed these in the looking at it for 2 minutes. I called CarMax and they said that if I get another shop to say the tires are so bald they are illegal to drive on and the boot is ripped, they will repair it for us. So instead of repairing myself, I took it to a shop and paid $150 for a inspection which did in fact say the tires were illegal to drive on and the boot was ripped among other things. Once I brought the report to CarMax, the quickly refused to fix what they stated they would fix before if I got proof. I got double screwed because I didn't need to pay for a shop to tell me those things were bad. Shady business practices and they will lie to your face.

Trade Value
Beware the trade values at this place is beyond unreasonable. Was offered $15,500 for a 2016 GMC Sierra 5.3 4x4 with 41k miles that looks brand new. Was then told I may get bettter offers but dealers sale prices are inflated so although it may seem im getting a better trade deal there that I am not. However, the price of the vehicle I was looking at was priced identical to said dealerships. So that being said I would say dont trade anything in here its a rip off.

Drove 40 minutes to location to look at this vehicle . I was very disappointed when I arrived to find that the color stated on this site is incorrect .This vehicle is not red , please update with the correct vehicle color.
