The Worst

I had the absolute worst car buying experience at the CarMax in Laurel, MD. Initially, I bought a vehicle (a relatively new vehicle that was still under manufacturer warranty) that had a odd noise coming from one of the axles. I called within a week of purchase and set up an appointment. Although they considered this a safety concern, they did not have any available appointments for three weeks. We dropped the vehicle off and were provided a loaner vehicle. The next day, the loaner vehicle had trouble starting...anyway. After three days we were notified that the vehicle had FRAME DAMAGE and they were not able to sell it to us. Although disappointing, the worst part was the unapologetic management team. Apparently, for some reason they thought they had better things to do rather than discuss this with me thoroughly. To be fair, the service representative and one out of the three sales representative I dealt with were fine. So not all of the people here were reflections of their management. We ended up purchasing another vehicle out of pure necessity but are not happy with the deal or the service that we received from Carmax. I will not be a returning customer and would advise others to steer clear.

Bad experiance

Will never see me at a CARMAX dealership ever again - The CarMax indicated they will charge MAX price and MINUMIUM trade in on your car

Adequate, average

Even though we made an appointment to test drive a car, we sat waiting for 15 minutes, only to be seen by someone asking us what we were selling. Then had to wait another 5 minutes for them to find us a salesman, who had adequate general knowledge, but not specific for the SUV we test drove. Then he had no flexibility on pricing, even though it had flaws.

Excellent!!!

I bought a new RAV4 through Jerry Potts at Laurel, MD new Toyota lot. Great experience! Gave me straightforward honest info with zero pressure. Best buying experience I ever had, and a great price. I would do it again in a heart beat.

Bought a used vehicle

Althea Thompson was awesome!!! I have never dealt with Carmax and she made the buying experience 100% perfect!!! I would definitely return again for future purchases.

Very poor customer car at service department

I own a Highlander which I bought from Carmax. The buying proces was fast but extraneous to us because my wife was out of the country and they failed to give us the specific documentations that she will need to complete the purchase. When we purchase the car i notice a couple of scratches which they claim it wasn't there and I know it was there but i didn't notice it because it was in the night. I returned to carmax to order an extra key. The cutsomer service called me and schedule me to bring in my Highlander. I brought in the car and took the necessary paperwork at 2pm. I was there at the carmax place until 6pm and started to wonder what must be happening with my car. I left the sitting room and went back to their reception and i was told that i was suppose to give some kind of paper somewhere so their system and tech will know that i was there. I was so disappointed and wondered while their tech or receptionist didn't tell me. Honestly, i was very disappointed and upset that Carmax made me to waste more than 4 hrs of my time just sitting and waiting for a service that never came. I was suppose to travel that day for Easter weekend. I will not be using Camax repair Services and don't plan to buy my next car from car max.

This place is xxxx

I have been through three vehicles in the last 30 days. Now, the newest one is in the shop!!!!! Guess what type of loaner they give me...one that smells of mold! The manager will argue with employees in front of customers. The manager will argue with customers! He thinks he can do whatever he wants because his sister is the DC Mayor!!!

Nice inventory

The employees at carmax where very knowledgeable and friendly they helped me through the whole process.

The sales person was very nice but didn't really try to...

The sales person was very nice but didn't really try to help us. He sent us on the huge parking lot to select a few cars which we did. Then put our info in the computer and said sorry, we can't help you. No explanation, nothing! They gave us a good price on our trade in but that's really all they were interested in. They wanted us to sell them our car and leave. They didn't really want to sell us anything. No minivans on their lot at all.
