What’s New for the 2025 Toyota GR Supra?

You should act fast if you want a new Toyota GR Supra — and even faster if you want one with the turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The 2025 Toyota GR Supra is mostly unchanged from 2024 save for the discontinuation of its smaller engine. Its delightful turbo 3.0-liter engine and optional manual transmission live on, however, leaving plenty for enthusiasts to get excited about.

Even more concerning for the Supra faithful was a report in May by Automotive News, which claimed the plant that produces the GR Supra will end production of the car in 2026. A Toyota representative told Cars.com that the company has not announced any discontinuation plans for the GR Supra but declined to comment further, which may not be enough to quell fans’ uncertainty over the Supra’s future. Point being: If you’re worried about it, you might want to get one now while the pickings are good.

What’s New for 2025?

The biggest change for 2025 is the discontinuation of the base-model engine, which was a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder making 255 horsepower and 295 pounds-feet of torque. We always thought this was an underrated option given how balanced the car felt with less weight up front and how much peppier it felt than its 255-hp rating would suggest.

The trade-off with the base four-cylinder engine, however, was a somewhat decontented base model without the larger Brembo brakes, forged 19-inch alloy wheels of the higher trim, strut tower bar, adaptive suspension and extra interior niceties of the 3.0-liter variant. The four-cylinder was also only offered with an automatic transmission, which may be a deal breaker for some fans. If you want the turbo four, however, you’ll have to find a remaining 2024 model for sale.

Also gone from the 2025 lineup is the limited-run GR Supra 45th Anniversary Edition, but you should’ve expected that one to be a single-year special; unfortunately, 46th anniversaries rarely get a special callout, and there’s no equivalent limited edition or replacement for 2025.

Trim Levels and Pricing

Two trim levels remain for 2025: 3.0 and 3.0 Premium, with the latter being the top spec. These carry over from 2024 (read more about the differences between the two). Pricing is as follows (includes $1,095 destination fee):

  • 3.0: $57,345 (up $725)
  • 3.0 Premium: $60,495 (up $725)

Available exterior colors do not change for 2025. Buyers can choose from Renaissance Red 2.0, Nocturnal (black) and Absolute Zero (white) at no charge or pay an additional $425 for metallic blue Stratosphere paint. Inside, the 3.0 gets a black leather and simulated suede interior, while the 3.0 Premium has a choice between black leather and a hazelnut interior that has both leather and simulated suede upholstery.

Powertrain Specs and MPG

Fans of inline-sixes can breathe a sigh of relief, as the turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder is the engine that’s sticking around for 2025. With an output of 382 hp and 368 pounds-feet of torque, it’s a big bump over the old base engine. Buyers still have a choice between an eight-speed automatic and six-speed manual transmission on both trim levels, with both being no-cost options. According to Toyota, the automatic is slightly faster from 0-60 mph than the manual — 3.9 seconds compared to 4.2 — but according to us, the manual is more engaging and fun. The manual transmission also features automatic rev-matching, which you can enable for perfect downshifts every time.

Official EPA fuel-economy estimates vary by transmission, with the automatic Supra getting 23/31/26 mpg city/highway/combined and the manual getting 19/27/21 mpg.

Tech Features

All Supras feature an 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen. A 10-speaker audio system is standard, with a 12-speaker JBL Audio system available as an upgrade for the 3.0 and standard on the 3.0 Premium. Other available options included on the 3.0 Premium but available to add to the 3.0 at an extra cost include wireless phone charging, wireless Apple CarPlay, navigation and a free trial of Toyota Supra Connect’s connected-car services.

Safety and Driver-Assistance Features

Toyota includes an array of driver assists on the 2025 GR Supra, including lane departure warning with lane departure steering assist, forward collision assist with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, hill start assist, and a rear camera with parking guidelines. Adaptive cruise control is available on automatic GR Supras; manual buyers only get regular cruise control. Blind spot and rear cross-traffic monitoring are standard on the 3.0 Premium and available in an upgrade package for the 3.0.

Should You Buy a 2024 or 2025 Toyota GR Supra?

Losing the base model jumped the GR Supra’s price of entry from $47,660 to $57,345 — nearly $10,000 more. If you’re trying to stay within a budget or you’d rather have the smaller 2.0-liter engine, you’ll want to stick to 2024 models.

Pricing on the two remaining trims is up $725 from 2024, as well, so with no changes between the two model years, consider finding a remaining 2024 model in stock and spend that extra dough on track days instead. The GR Supra still includes a complimentary one-year National Auto Sport Association membership with purchase, after all.
