The Kia Forte received an extensive mid-cycle refresh for the 2022 model year that gave the sleek compact new front and rear styling, a bigger 10.25-inch touchscreen and a beefier suite of standard driver-assistance technology. Kia has released pricing for the 2023 model, which takes a more subdued approach to its suite of updates and starts at $20,585 — a mere $400 increase over the base 2022 model (all prices include destination).

Revised Trim Ladder, GT Tech Package Deleted

At first glance, the 2023 Forte may seem like it’s been largely carried over from 2022, with the model still offering four trim levels to choose from. However, for 2023, the FE trim has been retired and replaced by the LX trim, which starts at $20,585.

Kia also revealed that the base 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine will remain standard for the FE, LXS and GT-Line trims; it continues to be paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The performance-focused GT retains its 201-hp, turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder, which can be paired with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

For 2023, the optional GT Technology Package has been deleted, with Kia choosing to instead make its FCA Fusion suite standard on GT trims equipped with the DCT. The suite blends forward collision alert with cyclist detection, an electronic parking brake, highway driver assist, and navigation-based Smart Cruise Control.

Pricing

The 2023 Forte sees only marginal price increases across all trims, with the highest being the for the GT in manual guise — $700 more expensive than the DCT model. Starting prices for the full 2023 lineup are below:

  • LX: $20,585
  • LXS: $21,085
  • GT-Line: $22,785
  • GT (DCT): $25,285
  • GT (Manual): $25,985

This pricing allows the 2023 Forte to still compete against segment benchmark rivals like the 2023 Honda Civic ($25,745) and 2023 Toyota Corolla ($22,645) sedans.
