What Makes the Land Rover Defender County Exterior Pack Different?

The Land Rover Defender is a modern tribute to its storied off-road ancestors, part of a family tree that dates back to the 1940s. For the 2024 model year — and now available on the 2025, as well — the British brand offers a County Exterior Pack styling package that transforms the modern, four-door Defender 110 into even more of a throwback. What makes the County Exterior Pack special?

What Is a Styling Package?

The explanation is in the name, but the gist of a styling package is that it’s both optional and makes no changes to the mechanical operation of the vehicle. A car may look different from the outside, but under the skin and under the hood, it’s no different. Usually, people in my line of work speak derisively about styling packages because many are used to make a vehicle look more capable off-road or on the track without actually doing anything that might improve performance.

What’s in the County Exterior Pack?

The County Exterior Pack is available on the 2024 Defender 110 S and SE and 2025 Defender S. It includes exterior graphics that run along the lower portion of the doors, contrasting paint for the roof and rear door, one of two different sets of 20-inch alloy wheels — including a steel-look set — and rugged Robustec interior trim.

Buyers have a choice of three paint combinations: Fuji White with Tasman Blue roof and rear door, Santorini Black with Tasman Blue roof and door, or Tasman Blue with a white roof and door. The gradient graphics for the first two are also Tasman Blue; they’re Fuji White on the latter.

How Much Does the County Exterior Pack Cost?

Here’s where things start to get interesting. According to Land Rover’s online configuration tool and the original press release, the County Exterior Pack is a mere $600. In reality, however, the elements of the County Exterior Pack will add significantly more cost to your Defender build.

Selecting the County Exterior Pack also adds a bevy of required options, beginning with the contrast roof. Regardless of paint color, this is an extra $1,000. (Interestingly, the contrast-color rear door is a $0 option.) For 2024 models, the two alloy wheel choices were each $1,200; the 2025 model makes the five-spoke design $1,200 and the steel-look wheels $1,800. Regardless of design, the full-size 20-inch spare wheel mounted on the rear door is an extra $100. Robustec veneer inside the cabin is an extra $600, too.

That puts your minimum outlay for the County Exterior Pack not at $600, but $4,100. Choose Santorini Black or Tasman Blue as your main exterior paint color and your cost rises another $950 to $5,050. Those prices seem more in line with luxury vehicle appearance package costs but aren’t the bargain the advertised $600 price implies.

Is the County Exterior Pack Worth It?

We called the Defender 130 Outbound a “grown-up Jeep Wrangler” and to me, this Defender 110 felt like a grown-up, lower-trim Wrangler. I personally love the way our test vehicle looks — especially the throwback “steelie” wheel design. It makes the Defender look rugged without overcompensating the way a host of shiny and unused outdoor accessories mounted to the roof and body might, and it also keeps the big SUV from looking like a bloated minivan alternative doomed to crawl mall parking lots and school pickup lines.

At $600 for everything, I was all in on the County Exterior Pack, thinking it was a relative bargain for a lot of enjoyable style. At a true cost of roughly $4,000, though, I’m torn — that’s a much bigger chunk of change for just looks. Since all I really care about when it comes to the County Exterior Pack’s aesthetics is the way the wheels look, I might skip the official package and try to save some money by creating my own with new tires and actual steelies.
