CARS.COM — The Toyota FT-4X concept is a new subcompact SUV aimed at “urban millennials” who are “casualcore” (the opposite of hardcore, maybe?) and looking for a vehicle to match their active lifestyles. When first teased in the lead up to the 2017 New York International Auto Show, we were hoping to see a revival of the FJ Cruiser off-roader and another competitor to the Jeep Wrangler — and perhaps the upcoming Ford Bronco.
Instead, this is a subcompact SUV based on the C-HR platform with power outlets on the roof(!?), a smartphone dock in lieu of a multimedia system (ugh) and vents that can act as dryers for wet gear or hair (the footage of this in action is incredible). Check out the video to see if the FT-4X marks the spot or is a miss for you.
