2017 Toyota 860 Special Edition | Manufacturer image
CARS.COM — Toyota will offer a limited-run special edition of its 86 coupe, with added features and its own paint colors, as the 2017 Toyota 86 860 Special Edition. The 860 refers to the number that will be built of each of two special colors: Supernova Orange and Halo White.
The car known until 2017 as the Scion FR-S has been a single-trim, one-size-fits-all model. That’s unlike its Subaru sibling, the BRZ, which offers a base model and a fancier Limited trim with some upscale features you can’t get on the Toyota version.
The 860 Special Edition is dressed up with a split black racing stripe, as well as a rear spoiler that looks a lot like the one on the BRZ, LED foglights, heated mirrors and an aerodynamic underpan.
The Special Edition interior gets leather, heated front seats in black with orange stitching, and an orange-stitched leather steering wheel and shift boot. It also gets push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and in addition to the 7-inch touchscreen, there is a 4.2-inch driver information display that displays a g-force meter, stopwatch, horsepower and torque curves, engine coolant and oil temperatures, and miles per gallon.
The 860 Special Edition goes on sale this month starting at $30,040 with the six-speed manual transmission and $30,760 with the six-speed automatic, including destination, a $2,900 bump over the regular models.
