Coming off recalls for rearview camera issues in October and powertrain troubles in November, Tesla’s Cybertruck pickup truck is being recalled again, this time with the automaker’s Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV, over an issue that may prevent the tire pressure warning light from staying illuminated. More than 694,000 vehicles are affected.
Affected vehicles include model-year 2024 Cybertrucks, model-year 2017-25 Model 3s and model-year 2020-25 Model Ys. The tire pressure monitoring system warning light in these vehicles may not stay illuminated between drives, failing to warn the driver of low tire pressure. Improperly inflated tires can increase the risk of a crash.
As a fix, Tesla has released an over-the-air software update. The automaker will begin notifying owners Feb. 15, 2025, but those with further questions in the meantime can call Tesla at 877-798-3752 (Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-24-00-018), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
