As opposed to the subtle, ostensibly production-ready Subaru Impreza Sedan Concept, Scion’s CH-R concept also appearing now at the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show takes the concept of a concept car and runs with it — runs, like, fast … and far. This high-riding compact looks like what a (really talented) kid would draw if he or she were designing a car: “And it’s gonna have, like, ginormous wheels! And it’ll be really tall, but still look like a car! But it’s not a car; it’s an SUV!”
Among the abundance of ostentatious features, the LED-piping of the wing-shaped headlights make a head-on view of the front end look like Kaa trying to hypnotize Mowgli in “The Jungle Book” Disney movie. Meanwhile, dramatically swooping body styling is complemented by a blacked-out roof and graphite trim on the grille, rear bumper, fender flares and lower side panels. Despite it’s out-there appearance — which even Scion has acknowledged might be perceived as being a bit “weird” — the automaker has already announced that the C-HR will indeed spawn a production vehicle.
