Vehicles Affected: Approximately 2,440,524 model-year 2004-12 Chevrolet Malibu sedans, model-year 2004-07 Chevrolet Malibu Maxx wagons, model-year 2005-10 Pontiac G6 vehicles and 2007-10 Saturn Aura sedans

The Problem: In the affected vehicles, corrosion could develop in the brake lamp wiring harness, causing the brake lights to fail. In addition, cruise control, traction control, electronic stability control and brake assist could also become disabled.

GM has reported “several hundred” complaints related to the recall, as well as 13 crashes and two injuries; no fatalities have been reported.

The Fix: Dealers will inspect and replace the affected parts for free.

What Owners Should Do: GM has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. Concerned owners can contact Chevrolet at 800-222-1020, Pontiac at 800-762-2737 and Saturn at 800-553-6000 for more information.
